ikea cabinets are the best product they make. they are outstanding quality overall, and if something does go bad. there is an endless inventory always available for quick replacement. They're also the most inexpensive and easiest to reface, and you can do it in a day or less. i've used them several times. If you're handy they're incredibly easy to customize. i used their basic white at my dallas house and veneered it all in walnut. companies like semihandmade also make them super designer sheek. this is my dallas kitchen. i really like how the baseboard and crown molding stop at the fireplace structure. It give s it a kind of monolith feel that seems like its a standalone structure that was built around but still feels as part of the wall as well. Great job! I have to agree with Stan Centar. We're talking about $12.50 sq ft. Most Fine lumber supply houses sell high quality veneers @ around $3 a sq ft. you could have those professionally installed and still come out cheaper it seems. Stikwood: DIY Peel & Stick Wood Planking Store Profile |

This doesn't factor in the cost of a lot as well I imagine. Being from Texas $128,000 is extreme for 640 sf, plus an added 50k for a good lot in Austin or Dallas. When is a good designer going to team up with a mobile home manufacturer? The mobile home industry is pretty much the only successful truly prefabricated market that delivers the same kind of product at a fifth of the cost. All it would take is some good design, and thoughtful finish out to revamp the plain style of most of these "traditional style" boxes. Putting the Fab Back in PreFab: Connect Homes |
