We recently bought a house with a small bathroom with tan walls, similar to yours, and an exposed wood ceiling. We went with a nice soft white for the walls. It makes the room seem much bigger and lighter, and then we have pops of color in the shower curtain and towels.

I just bought my first house on a quite limited budget. It has

- "wood" laminated floors, and gorgeous vaulted ceilings with exposed wood beams and rafters

Never thought I'd find something so perfect for so cheap! We were able to look past various cosmetic defects to see the great bones of the place.

I bet when you paint them, they'll look really cool (like someone else said, very beadboard). We just bought a house with a similar looking kitchen, and painted the cabinets white with the "backsplash" and a couple walls a deep rich navy/midnight blue. It makes the cabinets really pop and looks fantastic. Good luck! Don't get too frustrated that your DIY ideas are taking waaayyyy longer than you'd have thought... it's a journey for sure :)

Beautiful home. Hopefully you didn't break any future homeowners' hearts by painting over all that beautiful molding, although it does look really good white....
