Or you can get a good computer and just go with Steam. I don't do consoles anymore. The only games I care about enough to display are my TES GOTY editions.

And have half of the people who play Skyrim played Oblivion? Or Morrowind? Why do I always get blank stares when I bring up any TES title that's *not* Skyrim?

While I love the look of metal lunch tins, they're impractical for me. My lunch almost always has to be heated, and metal + microwave = NO. And I don't need something to put my tupperware in, it's just another item to buy and clean and own.

The rest of this is kinda...eh. I don't need it.

I'd hardly consider a 2,000 square foot house "green" if there's only one person living in it. What a waste of precious space! All that heating and cooling, no matter how efficient, for a single person. You could easily fit FOUR in there comfortably.

And agreed, it's easy to be green in the milder areas of California. Let's see some energy efficiency during a Texas summer!

Apple products are not long-lasting. The obsolescence cycle on their operating systems, in particular, is revolting. And with some computers locked into a particular OS due to the architecture, you'll get a very well-designed paperweight in a few short years.

One thing I do have to say for Microsoft is that their operating systems (the ones that are any good, anyway) tend to last longer than the hard drives they're installed on.

Or, you can just switch to Ubuntu, upgrade your OS whenever you need to, and run your machine into the dirt without having to change a thing until 64-bit becomes so ubiquitous that 32-bit is no longer available as an option.

PLEASE give us a feed that is JUST design. No food, no family, no birthday parties. I just want design.

While I personally side with Tetegrondona in finding that spending thousands on a single piece of furniture to be excessive, I also see that it may just be a question of priorities. While I don't feel the need to spend a lot of money on my furniture, I probably spend quite a bit on something else that someone would call excessive.

And, personally, I'm not sure I'd consider two grand on an armoire "excessive."

I will say that almost $8,000 for an "authentic" Saarinen table is pretty out there. I'd rather buy the cheap IKEA knock-off and use the rest of the money to visit another country.

I'm from Texas, and I don't recommend driving through Texas. It just makes the route feel longer, and West Texas is booooooooooooooring.

Is that an Axis deer? Those aren't native. And what's that supposed to be in the top left corner? An anteater? Whatever it is, I'm pretty sure it's not native, either.

I do believe that while not native, wild asses are naturalized, so I guess they can get a pass.

Are there no cute solutions for people with desktops? All I see are cute desks for laptops and those Macs that are monitor/tower combos.

I suppose I am left in the ugly dark ages with my homebuilt cheap-o tower.

Agreeing with Pier723. More litter box posts! I'd love to see how other people tackle this issue.

It's nice to see beautiful homes, but I'd want to see more practical solutions for common problems.

Cute, but so expensive! For not much more I could get a used Class C RV and actually be able to stand!

Not to mention there's no way my car would be able to make it up a mountain pass towing one of those. :/ I'll stick with my tent or I just buy a proper RV. I'll take practical over cute, thanks.

Southern Star Brewery isn't in Houston, it's in Conroe. Close, but not quite there. Kudos for mentioning the scene, though, as craft beer is alive and kicking in the Lone Star State, despite the idiotic TABC laws that hinder them so.

One, WTF this blog seems to get more and more away from the subject of interior design every day. I thought the kids birthday parties were bad.

And two, no. No no no no nonono. People don't need any more damn distractions while they drive. Someone please stop this before we all die in car crashes. I thought phones and DVD players were bad...

I've still got my old baby blanket that I still sleep with, and my old stuffed dog, very creatively named "Doggie." They both live under my comforter, although in Doggie's case, it's because I can't bear to pack him away, and there's no good place to display him where he won't become further damaged from the sunlight that comes in through my window. I'm 28.

Agreeing with Wvlinz and Okashi. I couldn't afford to go to Europe at $250 a night! And wouldn't want to, either. I'd rather, like Wvlinz, stay longer and go more often. Or go to Europe, and then use the money I didn't spend on an overpriced hotel and visit someplace else that I'd like to see.

Hotel amenities? :/ I guess we just travel different...the last thing I think of when I'm on vacation is the hotel. Hell, half the time I'm sleeping on the ground, anyway.

Halona Glass is right.

I work for a professional stained glass studio, and we call it stained glass regardless of color. Even a window in a door that's entirely clear glass with a bevel cluster is still "stained glass."

And these are lovely. One day when things settle down, I'm going to make myself a prairie school styled piece for my own home.
