Here's a great resource for American-made furniture. Many of the featured brands carry sofas, though I can't speak to the exact technique use to make them or to treat the raw materials.
Artecnica makes a beautiful Garland Light Shade, which clips onto standard light bulbs and can be twisted into practically any shape. It comes in black chrome, brass, silver and white, so you should be able to find a color that suits the rest of your bungalow.
In college and out of college, I've covered a lot of wall space by hanging twine (either by tying the ends to something or by winding it around nails in the wall) and attaching photos to it using clothes pins. It's a great (and cheap!) way to add some wall decorations.
Though definitely on the pricier side, Moooi makes some really cool white furniture, lighting and accents: http://www.allmodern.com/Moooi-C195563.html. I would check out their Paper collection in particular.
