The Barcelona Chair -- also known as the most uncomfortable chair on the planet. Haha, maybe it's just me but I just can't get comfy in those chairs. I'll take a Bertoia Diamond chair like in the second photo any day!

It's a fun and vibrant palette! Moderation is key of course, but I'm looking forward to these colors.

We have a bubble lamp in our home office. My husband had to talk me into it, but I LOVE it now!

I love that Thrive Kennedy chair! It takes the lines of one of my favorite vintage chairs (a Selig Z chair) and pairs it with a rocking base. I NEED that for the nursery!

Like another commenter above, I never realized that Ikea had such a rich history. It makes me gain a bit of respect for the brand. But it also makes me wonder why (as a vintage dealer who hunts a lot of furniture) I've never come across any vintage Ikea pieces. Could it be a quality thing? Or maybe just a geographic thing? Kind of curious.

I have a weakness for architectural models and an obsession with FLW. This sounds like heaven in an exhibit.

It looks pretty basic. You can buy foam at most major craft stores, or there are custom foam manufacturers in most cities. A simple rectangle shouldn't be too difficult.

The vintage dealer in me would be remiss if I didn't mention: if it's at all possible, the piece will retain more of its value if you can keep the original upholstery. Sometimes it's just not possible (I know) but if all it needs is a simple soak or dry clean, you might consider that, paired with the new foam. Keeping the upholstery would also be a good way to save costs -- high end fabric can be pretty expensive.

Good luck!

WOW, the newest version of Victorian hairwork! I've always found it creepy cool, but I am partial to vintage oddities.

I always eagerly anticipated shopping for school supplies too! These days I limit myself to shopping for vintage office accessories. Like this vintage dog letter holder -- it's one of my favorites!

I never did believe in a "luxury" trashcan. Until I broke down and bought a Simple Human (my husband had been trying to talk me into it for years). It's been a great investment. Consider me a convert!

These are great tips! Also, if you are purchasing large pieces from a B&M shop or an online shop (rather than at a flea market), we will often do the research and gather the price quotes for you, or at a minimum provide recommendations of freight carriers and white glove delivery companies. We've been through the process a few times over, so we can guide you and take some of the scariness out of it.

We recently got a sleeper from Macy's that's almost identical to the Soto Sleeper from DWR. It looks sharp and is about 1/4 the price of the DWR one. I didn't hear any complaints from my recent guests, so either it's fairly comfortable or they are extremely polite.

I'm not sure if I'd purchase a set of books strictly for their color palette, but I do find there to be tooonnnns of value in the aesthetics of old books (separate from their equally-valuable inner pages). The designs and typography of vintage book covers are so unique and visually appealing. Such effort and detail was put into the cover art in the past that I find them incredibly inspiring and beautiful.

I have the perfect spot in my home where I want this done -- in our refinished attic space, there are nooks in between the drywall and the roofline. I need to find someone to do this for me!

I LOVE that first photo! Beautiful color palette and a nice blend between modern and rustic.

We have deep windowsills and haven't tried a window box, but we do have a lovely windowsill garden, filled with mostly succulents. It's one of my favorite nooks in the house! I hear this a lot in regards to vintage decor and MCM style too. "Eames chairs are so cliche." And it makes me cringe. Yes, they're very mainstream now, after being somewhat under-appreciated in recent years. But really, they were intended to be mainstream when they were designed in the first place. So whatever.

But when it comes down to it, many people furnish their homes in vintage for reasons other than the fact it's trendy right now. The quality of the designs, the quality of the materials and manufacturing, the appreciation of the history and nostalgic elements, the desire to be less wasteful, the rejection of mass production, etc. I hope that people don't rebell against the idea of vintage just because it has become so popular.

I love my hometown! This guide is a great start, but STL has so much to offer, a quick guide just doesn't do justice.

If architectural tours are your thing, the Frank Lloyd Wright House in Ebsworth Park is a dream.

And for vintage hunting, I'm not sure how the shops on Cherokee escaped this list.

Dining on The Hill is always good for first-timers too.

Good work, AT!

They are most definitely vintage. See the way the address is written? "New York 16, N.Y." with a 16 in lieu of a full zip code. I wouldn't hesitate to reupholster them and give the wood a nice coat of teak oil to restore it. Thonets are well-loved and a worthwhile investment.

That price sounds a bit high to me. But professional (and well-done) reupholstery is not cheap. The cost can vary quite a bit depending on where you take it, what fabric you choose, and whether you're taking them somewhere in NYC or elsewhere. There's a good chance you need new cushions inside the upholstery too, if they're dry and disintegrating. I'd do a bit of a price shopping but since you love the chairs so much, it will be worth it to extend their lives.

Good luck!
