See I'd be hoping for a no. I abstain for religious and personal reasons and I'm not even sure if I dig 1% alcohol. By my calculations 12oz of soda equals about a tsp of alcohol (.12oz) One shot of Vodka contains around .6 so it's a quarter of a shot. Yeah, too much booze for this old Teetotaler to stomach! I pray to God that the US never, EVER goes Metric. I know some people have said my distaste for the Metric system is misguided and that the whole broken clock that was the French Revolution could have maybe once have been right about one tiny part out of the whole Cult of the Supreme Being thing. To me, it makes as much sense in the kitchen as the French Revolution's calendar system. Until We Go Metric: 7 Cooking Conversions to Know By Heart |

I appreciate the post about non-alcoholic beverages. I abstain for religious and personal reasons and it's so annoying that people expect me to serve booze at parties (my in-laws forced it on my wedding.) There are so many fantastic beverages that contain not one single drop of alcohol and it needs to be stated more. From Spritzers to Sodas: 10 Non-Alcoholic, Warm-Weather Beverages |

I don't have a problem with Soda-lime glass and quite frankly I've never had any Pyrex shatter on me. The only Pyrex I've witnessed breaking was an old borosilicate one that my mother poured cold water into when it was in the oven. I know a lot of people will probably chime in with "Another white kitchen" or something like that but what I appreciate about lighter tone kitchens is that they appear to be brighter and with less artificial light. Light bulbs (especially the horrid CFLs that are standard now) give off an ugly green light (as opposed to the yellow of the old fashioned bulbs) and when mixed with that honey wood stain of most cabinets things just look orange and not in a good way. I think I'll eat French food that day since a year later the French came back and installed a puppet government in Mexico thus rendering the whole battle a minor footnote in history. I also don't drink alcohol so it's very easy to skip these fake holidays that marketing types want us to celebrate. Fiesta Time! I've been collecting the Complete Peanuts collections for the last few years and it surprises me as to how many downright depressing joke-less strips (e.g. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fwcJtjvP8qA/TcRTWz3rnRI/AAAAAAAAAno/t9abz9BX1R4/s1600/2-1-1954.gif ) It kind of makes the "Snoopy and Woodstock doing silly things" strips appear in another world entirely. 3-D Cats, The Peanuts Gang & More Cute Japanese Latte Art |

Wow! It must be nice that you don't have any issues being around other people. Many people are shy, awkward or have other issues. Maybe their spouse dragged them there. Maybe they are slowly trying to overcome agoraphobic or anxiety issues. People who just expect everyone to be pleasant and fake make it harder for people with issues to fit in. We've reduced our plastic wrap use considerably and now really only use it for things like wrapping meat for the freezer. Most leftovers go in Rubbermaid or Pyrex containers.
