@Gina S it is crazy how our technology is taking over us, instead of us being in control.

@Sprklberie, thank you, but I would go CRAZY if there was any food in bed :)

Thanks @bejeweled and @Kitchi. At the end of the day it is just what I practice and what I believe. Everyone has different things that work for them and we all function in our own unique ways, but the most important thing I like to consider is making sure we all take the time to acknowledge our behaviors and habits enough to opening up to changing them. I always love when someone suggests something that can be habit altering for me. That is powerful and comes only come with an open mind.

@mel_in_japan everyone has different ways of doing things which is why I stress how important it is to organize your news into your life in a way that is appropriate to yourself and anyone else it may effect. It can be frustrating to be on the other side of the laptop or tablet with that light beaming on you at 5am! :)

This video isn't so much about instruction, because let's be real how much instruction can you get in one minute, but giving people the reminder to think about how their daily habits can effect others.Remember Organize & Create Discipline!

@alphabear I think people need reminding of things they sometimes forget or take for granted. Different people have different ways of doing things. It was nice to be given the opportunity to remind people that simple structure can go a long way.

Many companies make headboards with storage in it or behind it, all varying in storage capacity.

I posted something about the ARTWORK STORAGE solution here: http://www.ocdexperience.com/blog/2012/11/20/hidden-storage-jewelry-organizer/

Take a look...it's fun and easy to make.

Indedd @p-zed the most common, usable, dead space are walls. Most people's floors usually are cluttered with things so I would say that floors aren't common dead space. As for ceilings, some kitchen utilities such as pots and pans can be hung. In your garage you can hang bicycles and have storage that can be raised. Unless you are a spider using your ceiling won't be to functional for most items.

No auto-translation, just trying to be direct, to the point and efficient. :)

@eldon it can be beneficial to use a shelving unit as a room divider, especially if the room could be divided into two distinct spaces!

Indeed there are a few pictures missing and it kills me also @Heather C that the period is missing from O.C.D. Experience!

Like anything in your life you never want to add any storage, system or organizational device before knowing EXACTLY its intention. Some of you said you love organization but have a hard time keeping it up. You are not alone. This is common which is why I created my business and trademarked it Organize & Create Discipline. Learning the discipline behind maintaining anything in your life, let alone your stuff, will be a challenge at first. But once you get going, make it a habit, teach your family members those skills, you will be on your way to effortless organization.

Everyone makes GREAT points!

Some people double their guest room as their "craft room" or "hobby room" which is great and can be effective, BUT make sure that there is SPACE available for your guests when they come to visit. Just because you are using your guest room for an active room in your home doesn't make it excusable when every area is jammed packed with stuff.

Once again, thank you all for such positive and supportive feedback. Please stay as involved as you like!

Justin

The simplicity in something may be obvious but the practice of it isn't always as easy as it seems. Organize & Create Discipline everyone!

@FIGHTTHEFUTURE @JANELLERENE I couldn't agree more...

Going paperless is indeed something we all need to think about, BUT just like some people stated on these comments, it is important to keep certain documents in a tangible form: Passport, DL, Deeds, Receipts over $500 dollars for insurance purposes, Visa's, Birth Certificate, SS Card, Death Records. Anything that is CERTIFIED as well.

I agree with @Jonrojas...positive!

Going digital does take time, but the idea is to save you time and energy. Yes @jefferyk all of this costs something, but at what cost? Most people find that this will be applicable when they lose all of the most important documentation in their lives.

Another fun fact is that most people move at least 8 times in their lives so think about how much money is wasted on moving fees that are associated with filing cabinets and paper.

The tip is more to get people thinking digital and ways to begin it. If I were to go through the process of how to do this effectively and efficiently it would be much longer than a minute!

@Desireonfire the answer is no! It is very simple...in fact dedicate just one of the pipes for wires that are constantly in-flux and on-the-go. This was it is even simpler to remove those wires that won't be stationary.

The best part of these wire pipes is that it is very simple! @kannachan you do not have to undrill the pipes ever and if you add a wire it just snakes through the extra space in the pipe. In fact, using a solution like this is all about the planning. If you are the type of person who will be adding and adding to the wire pipes, I suggest getting a larger gauge pipe which will give you more room for your additional wires. For me it was very simple, as I planned out what would be stationed on my desk and made an estimate from there.

@romebe ...drilling the holes was part of the construction of the desk. Since I built the desks from scratch I knew where each and ever hole was going to be which was very soothing to my OCD!

@gluttenforpunishment think about putting your router and slingbox somewhere else as it doesn't necessarily have to be on or near your desk.

Thanks for the flattering compliments @citygirlsf, @lisalisadonut and @crownology! :)

Wires are always necessary to manage and given a minute we had to come up with something useful! :) You should see the desks I have built above!

Hi to all and hi Lisa!

Mary, Felipe, Amaranta and Kellinicia...OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) comes in many forms, but what tends to happen is the obsessions and compulsions end up taking over people's lives. I have directed my compulsions into organizing my environment which leaves me obsessing and focusing on organizing, which is much more productive than obsessing on hundreds of other distractions. It really is very mental to start, but then the discipline comes in on keeping the organization so I don't have to obsess as much. OCD now becomes O.C.D.- Organize & Create Discipline.

Hey all...so my parents reacted in a positive way toward me at first but weren't too happy with my grandmother who was taking care of me at the time. It is funny to see how my parents react now and are yearning for more order and organizational discipline in their lives as they get older.

I truly appreciate all of the incredibly positive feedback, flattering comments and support here at AP and am looking forward to bringing you some out-of-the-box, helpful tips to organize and create discipline in your lives.
