@rmbnn - It's proper to use "an" before letters that sound like they begin with a vowel. So either "a NYC" or "an NYC" is proper because it sounds like "an enwhycee".

You could put down a rug in the kitchen under the table, to hide the mismatched tile. If you're worried about food ruining it, you can get an "outdoor rug" like the ones sold at Pottery Barn that *look* like indoor rugs but can be hosed off if needed.

The Norwegian flag is beautiful and graphic. If you could keep the color scheme within the white/blue/red palette, I think it would look very lovely and intentional.

To avoid the college vibe, make sure it isn't a shiny vinyl outdoor flag. Buy (or make) a high-quality fabric flag with a matte finish and nice dye.

i love the neutral palette but you should add some art to the bare walls. :) i know it's a bad idea to hang a framed painting with glass at the head of a bed in SF, but you could put up a painted canvas or some fabric w/o a frame.

What an interesting desk. I love the white front panels. Do you know what the purpose of the odd shape of the desk top is for?

I also echo that she consider whether the cats are really the cause, if she had them for years before this problem arose. My doctor told me that my dog was causing some health issues, which later were resolved (and turned out not to be dog allergies!).

The digs can't be THAT crappy! According to the article, the rent at that place is $4,000/mo. I live in the area and for "crappy" you have to get below $2k. Either they got the rent wrong or it's not so crappy. ;)

Raw corn is very good, if you have good corn. Sweet & crunchy. If your corn is not very sweet or good, you can lightly cook it (e.g. 1-2min in boiling water) to help a bit. But don't make it mushy!
