stunning. I love how you painted the trim around the counters- it makes the countertop look completely different!

The first thing I thought of when I saw your porch was lining the edges with white rocking chairs, facing the outside of the porch, like in the Charlotte airport (http://www.flickr.com/photos/airportrockingchairs/4207348131/) You could scatter in some small tables, and they are light enough that your guests could pull them into more conversational groupings. Add some bright graphic cushions and pillows to make it a little more modern and a little less Cracker Barrel. :)

That sink is fabulous.

To complement the blue in the rest of the house I would pull in a gray with blue undertones for the wall. Either a light gray with the existing white of the cabinets or a darker gray walls with light gray cabinets. I also rather like the yellow counter and backsplash.

Be careful if you choose to change the cabinet hardware - we had almost identical cabinets and the old pulls were a different length than the new and we had to fill in the old and redrill new holes in every drawer and cabinet.

I'd second Extending the Table and More with Less. However, you won't really know what is available until you arrive, so don't be afraid to experiment and improvise! Having lived and worked in Africa, the best advice is to spend time learning how to cook local foods from neighbors and friends. It's a great way to get to know people and build relationships.
A few tips - in the rural setting where I worked, women could lift pots of boiling water off a cookfire with their bare hands, after years of doing so. Bring your own pot holders or old towels.
In many settings, food preparation is considered the work of women. As a male and a guest you may have to do some insisting/explaining that you really do want to spend time in the kitchen learning and practicing.
Keep in mind that food preparation and cooking takes much longer in the developing world than it does here - ie, boiling beans for hours rather than opening a can.
Have fun and enjoy the experience!

Does anyone know if anthropologie bedding comes in full size? All I see is twin queen and king - I've tried making do with queen size before and the bedding always looks sloppy.

Also, I think the proportions may be a little off as well. One box of couscous is way more than one serving!
