You played it too safe.
A terra-cotta color would have worked better. And the door should have more pizzazz.

This is a HUGE house.
I would have gone with a stark white and beautiful wood door.

My suggestions: In a word-PAINT
paint the floor, rafters, walls and window sills
put a swing or loveseat (with cushion) on the end of the porch
new rug
cut back some of the bushes
add one of those porch shades
one nice chair
New shutters
New columns instead of those wrought iron things (ghastly)
