I agree with an inside-the-frame hang... but if that doesn't work for you, then I would put the drapery brackets above and outside the frame, so that your nail/screw holes are in the wall not the wood. You could put the draperies up almost to the ceiling & it will visually keep the ceilings high. What Rod Placement with Large Window Moldings? Good Questions |

I have a very small, boxy room with 8'6" ceilings, and I painted it a very pale blue, which expanded the walls, but I wanted to bring down the ceiling to put the room in better scale. I chose a grayish-green - almost a blue-spruce color but very light, and it worked! It feels much larger when the ceiling doesn't seem so high - the rest of the first floor is fine with white ceilings, but those rooms are of normal proportions. I think ANY color would work with white walls, but greens and blues tones are considered the most soothing for bedrooms. Color on Eight-Foot-High Ceiling? Good Questions |

I'm a quilter too, and a history buff. Barbara Brackman has many books on historic quilts, including one regarding quilts and slavery. There is no proof of coded quilts used by the Underground Railroad (though there is pattern, developed later, called underground railroad) - yet no proof of there not being one either. But honestly, when you spread out a patchwork quilt, how can you resist imagining romantic stories about the bits of fabric... that is what started me on my quiltmaker journey. I don't donate to Goodwill either: the stores in my area charge, in my opinion, an awful lot for clothing they got for free. There's a church-based thrift store in town & they use their money for community service such as holiday meals. Certain items, like career clothing, I take to the battered women's shelter, because our local Dress for Success is only accepting items in certain sizes. Its fun to go, but pricey: you even have to pay admission to some of the fields and it adds up. Also (my pet peeve) is that even though dealers are willing to haggle, many don't put a price tag on items. I want a baseline $ before I consider asking for a deal. People are nice, though, and it helps if you have yourself a list and do your homework on values before-hand. Happy Brimfield Everyone! Brimfield Antiques Show 2012 |

Is it OCD of me to use a piece of plexiglass (had a leftover from another project) to fold my t-shirts with so that they're all the exact same width when folded? I use a shelf for my shirts, rather than a drawer - same concept though. One Minute Tip: How To Organize T-Shirts Apartment Therapy Videos |

The vinegar bath for berries is the only one I've tried and it definitely works. I don't rinse after - the vinegar is diluted anyway & so little clings to berries it doesn't leave any noticable flavor once the berries dry. 5 Seriously Smart Tips For Summer Living |
