sorry about the late reply on the rug! it's a persian heriz rug - this is the actual one i got back in the day... http://www.overstock.com/Worldstock-Fair-Trade/Persian-Heriz-Peach-Ivory-Rug-54-x-69/3967589/product.html

As you can tell, the picture doesn't do justice to the actual piece, it's much prettier in real life and salmon colored. I did a search for heriz rugs on overstock and these two are very beautiful and somewhat similar although twice as big (and more expensive...)

The floors are light oak and the walls are probably BM's decorator's white or something very similar - they came with the rental but are the perfect shade of clean, slightly cool white that flatters art.

@clairelock - not sure where the zebra came from but all other ones are John Robshaw - he doesn't offer these exact designs anymore but has some similar ones here: http://www.johnrobshaw.com/products.htm?Pillows=Handpainted&params=3,13 - also check out the cool vintage pillows in the Souk section of the website

@creativelicense - the Domino book must be one of the first decorating books I ever bought and a great source of inspiration!

@bowmac - the walls came as is (as in "rental white"), it's a very clean and rather cool white, maybe like Benjamin Moore's decorator's white. For a warmer white, I'd go with BM's cloud white or Acadia white

@fengshuibyfishgirl - it's not a TV, it's a photograph :) I don't really like the look of TVs so haven't had one in over a decade but I have a projector (next to the green ginger jar), which projects a 100 inch diameter picture on the wall with the black and white photos - I just take them down when I'm watching a movie since the walls are super white (otherwise I'd use a pulldown screen) - it's an awesome set up!

@janetbrandt - I'm using audioengine 5 powered speakers - http://audioengineusa.com/Store/Audioengine-5 - the amp is built in as you have guessed but I'm using a pre-amp with the record player which makes a huge difference - http://www.dijitalfix.com/store/VP130.html - it's tiny and I keep it under the media cabinet. The guys at Digital Fix set me up with this system, it's great!

@rockerjd @shazzad - the cabinet is by MASHstudios and you can get it here - http://www.laxseries.com/live_and_relax/3X_shelf_with_base.html - also comes in a wall-mounted version; just note that the records only fit into the open middle section and not the side drawers (but large books do fit)

@h144 - the wall lamps are Flos, they also come in black and hivemodern.com and similar sites should carry them

The cat (Indie) is a Bengal and positively unruly - she also naps on the dining table and does pretty much whatever she wants... she's taught me how to really exercise patience and is responsible for my obsessive cleaning habit :)

@Ellieelliehead - the bedroom chairs are from a wonderful Boston boutique Hudson - http://www.hudson-boston.com/ - the frames are antique flea market find and the chairs were reupholstered by the Hudson designers. Unfortunately, most of their antiques are not on the website but if you are ever in Boston, it's a really great spot to visit.

Thank you for all the kind comments!

@RuralandRueful - the butterfly head probably came from a Boston shop years ago but I did a search for "butterfly phrenology head" and a few sites came up, this one looks best priced (small size) http://www.welldressedhome.com/phrenologyhead.html

@B77 - I'm with you on the liquor bottles, it's quite embarrassing and believe it or not there are twice as many in the cabinet below the counter; definitely putting them out of sight when I have some more storage space in my new place

@smariel - the dining chairs are from Design Within Reach; the new place is on 8th Avenue in Chelsea in a prewar walk-up - I saw over 120 apartments (crazy, I know!) over several months before finding this gem

@Sallyride - the carafes are from Lekker in Boston, they still carry the blue one - http://www.lekkerhome.com/Bedside-Carafe-Recycled-Glass.html and I just looked on the Internet for the other one and looks like you can find it here - http://www.apartment48.com/shop/bedside-carafe-tumbler.htm

@tinybubbles - the chrome and leather chairs are also Design Within Reach, they also come with black leather I believe

@goldiegirl - I got the multicolored lamp on one kings lane a while ago when that site just launched and have been looking for a second one to complete the pair since then, but no luck! If you find it on the internet by chance, please let me know where!!
