This was a really good post. I love this 'eat EVERYWHERE (restaurants with varying ethnicities and levels of hygiene)'.

I have a bust of Elvis in my living room - I think it makes me look pretty cool.

The front of this really looks like it would fit into that neighborhood perfectly. Over 35 years ago, my sister lived in one of those duplexs with 3 other girls. She didn't like that much company and ended up sleeping in the closet under the stairs - Harry Potter style.
That neighborhood was fun then and it still is now.

'The Pleasures of Cooking for One' is one of my favorite cookbooks. Judith Jones is such a role model. I've been a fan since Vogue magazine did an article on her in their annual 'age' issue. And, her kitchen is one of my favorites. It's so functional and interesting. I'd rather look at it than any showroom style kitchen.

That's fun. I love the countertop.

I'm glad you kept the rock wall.

I gave up on the lawn years ago in a previous drought. I just trim and mow what ever manages to grow in the lawn area.
I use soaker hoses and a lot of mulch on my vegetables and I run my washing machine drain out the back window to water the trees.
I don't like drought. It's depressing.

I recently read two that are sort of 'Re-Nest' related:
Grow the Good Life by Michelle Owens of GardenRant.com fame
and
The Dirty Life by Kristen Kimball. Both books were quite enjoyable.

I've read the first Flavia de Luce book. She is one of my favorite characters. I'll have to go get the next one.

For the carnivores - you don't have to remember to thaw your meat. It just takes it a bit longer to cook when you start with frozen.
