OMG, I threw away nearly half of my tops because of all those mystery holes!! My mom's friend mentioned the othe day that it could be from the kitchen counter and didn't take it seriously! I'm so not forgetting to put on my apron anymore!

I live in small apartment too so I know what you mean.... One thing I love and recommend is the Yankee Candle Odor Eliminating Scented Beads (I like the green "just plain fresh" smell better). I leave it open on top of the refrigerator and it really does help getting rid of cooking odors. Another thing I do sometimes is put vinegar in a small bowl and leave it open near the source of smell. The only problem is the place will smell of vinegar for a little bit, but it will neutralize the other smells!

My mother in law has a great chicken soup recipe for fighting colds. Other than the regular ingredients she uses corn meal and a whole head of garlic.

You could make a French Silk Chocolate Pie, I got the recipe from Cooks Country or America's test kitchen (one of them). Its easy to make, DELICIOUS, and it holds up really well. I totally agree with the other reader, the vodka pie crust is great!

I lived in CR for 5 years when I was teen because my dad worked for Lizano. I remember taking tours inside the Lizano factory, the smell... and at the end of the tour getting a bunch of mini bottles to take home. Now I won't need to travel so far to get another taste of it! Thanks!

I once bought a small pumpkin to make a soup but it was impossible to cut through it! After almost losing one of my fingers, I threw it away and gave up. Now I only buy it if it is already peeled and cubed!

I use stainless steel and enamel cast iron (Le Creuset) and they are great. I'd toss those scratched up pans.... after all, if they're scratched the non-stick function is going to be lost.

I own a Nespresso machine. I bought the D-100 model four years ago and I loved it. When I moved to a new place I sold it and bought the newer model Pixie, which I love even more. I don't think the capsules are too expensive. I pay $6 or a box of ten. If there is a Nespresso boutique near where you live you can purchase them there, if not, order them online. They deliver in 3 days max and their shipping rates aren't high. Their customer service is very good too.

I totally agree that this is the # 1 gadget for small kitchens!! I bought one a little over a year ago and I have used it almost every single day! I have the cuisinart model with the mini processor and wisk attachments. I was lucky to buy it on sale at Costco for $19,00!!! What a bargain!! I immediately grabed one for me and three as wedding presents! All my friends who received the gift tell me it was one of their favorite most useful wedding present.

I use my attachment all the time and I have never had a problem with it.
I haven't tried any of the recipes that came with the attachment... I bought a book called Ice Creams & Sorbets by Lou Seibert Pappas. I find the recipes from this book simple, and they don't use as many eggs as the recipes that came with the machine. Also, make sure that you are cooking your custard to the right point.

Help! Why Doesn't My KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker Work?
Good Questions

5/24/12 3:28 AM

I have the Kitchenaid stand mixer ice-cream maker attachment. It works great, for me! At first I intended to buy the first Cuisinart model you show here, but after I got the stand mixer I figured that I didn't need an extra appliance taking up counter space. Anyway, I am totally in love with my ice cream maker, I use it all time!
