I think this is an utterly genius idea, though I think you're limiting yourself in your marketing prospects by saying the product is just for people who abstain from alcohol for religious/health/recovery reasons. I think this is like Better Than Bullion for wine. You should totally market it that way "For when your bottle is too good to put in the pot."

Grilling favas in their pods is traditional in the Mediterranean, so this entire dish could have been grilled. From my understanding you just pop the pods onto the grill, cook them until they're charred then pop them open and eat the beans or, if the pods are small and tender, you can eat them too. Of courses people with favism can't do this, but a lot of people can!

I have never found ANY technique that works for hazelnuts. Roasting? nothing. Blanching? even less. If anyone knows of some magic hazelnut denuding technique I' be eternally grateful!

My parents had the top one when I was a toddler/little kid and, let me just say one thing: I LOVED IT. It was the greatest piece of furniture ever. I would crawl inside it, and suddenly it was a submarine, or a spaceship, or a car or... or... OR... So many things, so many wonderful memories. If you've got kids and are considering buying one of these, I cannot possibly recommend it highly enough. The memories...

MoMont -- Sole Meuniere is amazing and incredibly easy to cook. I tackled it over the summer and was floored by how easy it was, except for the flipping. The flipping is hard. But if your fish breaks, it's still going to taste amazing. Enjoy! So delicious!

Judith Jones, famous editor at Knopf of Julia Child, Claudia Roden and many, many more, talks about a recipe for beaver that she tested for one of her cookbooks, the L.L. Bean cookbook she wrote with her husband if memory serves correct. I bet it would taste a lot like duck.

Absolutely! When we moved into our parlor floor apartment in Brooklyn I initially put up just curtains, but felt they didn't give enough privacy so I hung up some thin, white cotton roman shades that are too short for the windows. I hung them on thing chain so that there's space for sunlight to come in from the top.

I love the effect, it's bright and airy and sophisticated, but still gives privacy, and everyone that sees it comments on how much they like it too. (and did I mention I made the curtains myself?)
So go on! Have it both ways!

Hi Kelly!
I'm a pro with buffalo and grass-fed beef, so beefalo must have a cooking "concept" similar to the two, why don't you tell us how you've been preparing it and I'm sure I (and maybe others) can chime in with some tips!

Andries Vierstadt and the blonde girl that took over from him on that Scandinavian cooking series. I loved them both! They were really interesting to watch and wicked good cooks to boot.

I remember a garden gnome being stolen from someone's front yard in my hometown. It was the scandal of the year! And then, when they started getting photographs of the gnome from all over the United States, it was an even bigger to do. Each photo was printed on the front page of our local paper. It was amazing. The gnome was finally sent home and all was well. It's such a silly thing, but I love it (and no, it wasn't me that stole the gnome. I was about 10 at the time).

Oh my lord, pick me! PICK ME! I've been lusting after one of these for ages.

So, what would I make with it? Olive tapenade, hot sopresatta and gooey cheese paninis with pickled onions until I'm blue in the face.

BX, I recently discovered the utter joy of Coq a la Biere, it's like Coq au Vin, but quicker and less annoying, and it's made with beer (who doesn't love beer?!) and it's a delicious one pot meal when paired with a nice, crusty baguette. Good luck with the move!

This weekend I'm on my own and looking forward to a big bowl of pasta made from dried tomatoes from my mom's garden.

Yes, they were simple, but they also appreciated quality and efficacy.
Up at the original site in Watervliet, just outside of Albany, they had a whole herd of Studebakers because they were the best cars they could buy and allowed them to make their deliveries more efficiently than if they did it with say, horses.
They didn't eschew technology like the Amish, in fact, if they were still around today, I bet they'd be way into the internet and that Mother Ann Lee would think this project is pretty cool.

Hi ace!
Yep, you saw artichokes.
I just happened to bop into that stand not too long after Ms. Waters had left and they were positively THRUMMING with excitement. The stand is at the Union Square greenmarket on Fridays on the north end of the park. I'm pretty sure Chris or someone else on the AT:K team did a profile of them not too long ago. The 'chokes are really good and they're across from Yunos Farms' stand which also sells all sorts of delightful things like pimientos de Padron an funny little Turkish eggplants.

The wine I crave constantly is pure Cab Franc. It's got such an unusual nose that varies so much with where it's grown. The wines from the Finger Lakes smell like jalapenos, the ones from Cali are more elegant and refined, while the French ones are dirty, in a very good way.

I love it pure, but it's also great as a mixing wine and I can smell it in almost any wine it's blended with. I'm always shocking people by saying "this has cab franc in it!" and the sommelier will be like, "but only 4%!" for some reason, my nose looooves it!
