We had a couple of those silicone freezer trays from Green Sprouts and they ripped like you wouldn't believe, within maybe 1-2 tries using them. The dividers between the sections are just so thin and flimsy they ripped right apart.

These Wilton silicone brownie square baking molds worked better than that: http://www.amazon.com/Wilton-2105-4923-24-Cavity-Silicone-Brownie-Squares/dp/B001T4URXG

Honestly, the best were plain old ice cube trays. Just like sarahsmileTX, froze them in the molds, popped them out and then kept a bunch in ziploc bags. Not sure why we even bothered trying other things.

We check out library books, but stick mostly to the board book section for now. My 18mo is getting better with being careful with book pages, but when we read non-board books, we're always supervising as he's still a bit too rough with them. I also keep the library books separated out from our regular books, as I find it's easier to keep track of them & remember to return them in a timely fashion.

@LBH We cloth diaper at home, but our (otherwise excellent) daycare refuses to consider cloth so we use sposies at daycare. One solution that has worked for some people is using something like Grovia or BumGenius Flip Hybrid diapers that have a reusable shell & disposable inserts. Our daycare wouldn't consider those either, but I've heard of people having success at other daycares.

My stroller specifically says not to hang anything off the handle. The fan makes me laugh - isn't the point of being in a stroller to be walking, so generating a breeze just by moving?

Happy birthday to Will! Amazed that he was only 2lbs at birth, he looks like such a happy little chunk now.

Sorry for your loss, as well.

Echoing what others have said: would love to know where the child's table set is from!

Lightweight + all-terrain seems like a pretty impossible combination to me. We're going on vacation this fall when my son will be 20 months old and we're buying a Kelty external frame pack to carry him. I think the Ergo and other soft sided carriers are great, but with my 75th percentile son, they're already not that comfortable to wear for extended periods.

We've got the smaller version too & really love it, but yes it does fill up quickly! This size is a great idea.

I really wouldn't paint over it, but I would offer a paint allowance (and make that clearly known to any potential buyers) so they know it could be painted over if needed. We looked at one house while we were house hunting that used Cat in the the Hat for a nursery theme and the thought of painting over bright red and bright blue colors really turned me off the house, even though they offered a paint allowance. Your mural would be much easier for potential buyers to envision painting over than that.

I was going to suggest the exact two blankets Rachel HC suggested. I've seen some really gorgeous versions of both.

I've actually just been thinking about this - we have an open room in the rear of our house that doesn't have a door, but a sliding barn door would be perfect. Thanks for the link!

I see people ragging on wipes warmers so often, but as someone who used cloth wipes and lives in a pretty drafty house, the wipes warmer has been seriously helpful. Especially at first when there were lots of diaper changes in the middle of the night - and a nice warm wipe kept the baby from waking up even more.

To the original question, we use cloth diapers so we had a pail. If you're using disposable diapers, I don't really see a reason for a dedicated pail, as long as you're emptying the trash on a regular basis.

I've gotten several recommendations from friends to give something that can be used in the classroom. The teachers at our daycare are completely into books and with infants, their books take a lot of abuse. So, we're going to give them a set of Eric Carle books.

We had a pinata to keep the kids occupied while the adults were having cocktails - worked like a charm. Also, crayons and paper on the tables & some little toys for favors for them.

I agree with the other posters, it sounds like you've set it to the lower height. We recently dropped to the lower setting and it is seriously low, a big difference.

I was wondering if Jill could comment a bit more on the materials used. Would it be possible to get a copy of the plans? I'd love to do a playhouse like this in our yard.

We have a 7 month old and I do really wish we had put off our crib purchase. We had a Seed Cradle in our room for the first 6 months and now that I'm back at work, we ended up co-sleeping. The crib is sitting in the nursery downstairs unused 95% of the time. I think by the time we'll want to use it, we'll end up converting it to a toddler bed. In retrospect, we could have just skipped it and gone straight to a bed.

I started out using a homemade ring sling and loved it for the first few months. We also have a Bjorn Air, which my husband and our baby both really like but I never found that comfortable. I mostly switched to using a Beco after we got around 15 lbs. We recently bought a Scootababy, which is great for doing a hip carry. At 5 months old, always looking towards me was getting boring for the baby & so being able to look out and around in a hip carry seems fun for him.
