As, a landlord I hope you got their permission! (now that that's out of the way) lol

I think I prefer the prior although the after isn't bad. I just don't think it stands out as a significant change for the better. When there's nice molding I love to see the molding. Maybe some whites in different shades may have done the job.

It looks nice.

Amen!
Our space may be a little more forgiving than yours (we do have a solid wall), however, our backs would be to our a lovely and ginormous window in our living room.

I agree with @ARCHIcritique , @AngryRedhead , @ScuttledCuttle on this one. We just finished renovating our kitchen and used solid brass pulls throughout and love it. We are all about truth to materials. The solid brass will age beautifully. I'd also get bored with the same finsihes throughout the house. Our kitchen has solid brass, bronze, and chrome finishes, wood cabinetry and wood floors, soapstone and marble.

Gold and Brass in the Kitchen

The kitchen had to be ripped out without a doubt. I wish they would've stayed true to the architecture of the house. It breaks my heart when a house is renovated and the home's style is disregarded. Houses are left looking skitzophrenic for a future owners to come in and renovate them. It's a vicious cycle.

I hope the sink in the kitchen and the fixtures in the restroom were donated or sold to an architectural salvage store.

The bathroom...hmmm.. it also needed to be ripped out from the 50's and brought back to its original glory.

It's functional now. It has that going.

Love it.
What kind of trees are the ones in your backyard?

I'm looking for a good screening tree.

Thank you!

I agree with a lot of the points made by "bfergie13". The "after" pictures have a little too much contrast so I can't tell if the "after" sink area was opened up or if its the same as the "before".

I think I may be the only on here, but I actually liked the before. I think an improvement couldn't have been made for the same amount or less than the "after". The "after" looks meh and cheap. If the "before" cabinets were structurally ok and in good shape. I would have made the following improvements to the "before":
- new cabinet hardware, to include even the hinges
- opened up the wall where the "before" sink was
- replace the sink, range hood and appliances
- replace the flooring
- keep the "before" countertops
- keep the "before" backsplash
