If one more person tells me "that's why I bought a house" I may have to scream. Not in everybody's budget, I for once don't think debt like a soul crushing mortgage is a badge of honor or a rite of passage. I'm fine debt free living for rent.

I would totally keep the pink/black/green tiles! Other people spend prize of a car to "remodel" their bathroom or lots of money on "vintage". I know this site does a lot of "fixing" but sometimes you need to take a step back and put that pick ax down. slowly. save some money, make what you have work, get out of debt.(stop that arms race of who has the best bathroom/kitchen because you all have the same big a** fugly SUV). less is more.

ugh, living in Vancouver Canada means having tons of weird landlords. the biggest problem seems the almost universal greediness and arrogance, since good apartments are few and far between.
My last landlord was condescending and weird, we weren't allowed to use the fireplace and we weren't allowed to BBQ in our backyard (because we could burn down the house). The renter above us was buddies and made sure he always told her about perceived wrong doings.
While living there she checked on the paint and had us "fix" small damages (the paint was dark red and prone to knicks)
My current land lady lives upstairs and she is fantastic. Not very handy with reparations but easy going and helpful..way more important than having a perfect place.

gut feeling. and then talk about life-style/cleaning habits/money. Best solution for cleaning (because two people will always have different opinions): have a plan. as in: written in a calendar who cleans what when.
I've been extremely lucky with roommates, I had one bad roommate so far. )

I can tell you why. Because everyone already has an SUV and an double-mortgage house. The arms-race had to move to something else.

lol, while trying homeopathics you can also try crop circles. and horoscopes. and alchemy. homeopathy is snake oil, the fact that your dog got better had probably other reasons. The singular of data is not anecdote. actual research shows over and over again that homeopathy doesn't work.

I had a severe cat allergy as a teenager. I am still allergic, in some cases very allergic (including allergy induced asthma). I found that different cats cause allergies or not, also,two cats are worse than others. If I was your sister, I would give the cats into foster care (friends, family) and start from scratch. have one cat only. find out if you are allergic to both cats or just one. I also strongly recommend antihistamine and immunotherapy. I went from asthmatic/crazy allergy to planning on my first foster cat this fall.
Don't let an allergy control your life! it's not like having diabetis that never goes away.

I would paint the doors, get some additional lights and declutter the fridge! remove all those magnets to make it look clean.

window open, at least a crack. I don't sleep well when the windows are closed. last night I couldn't fall asleep because my neighbor was listening to music (not loud but loud enough to hear it) so an audiobook did the trick.
