LOL! I remember visiting my aunt in Cardiff years ago who lived in a protected historical row house. As such, all modifications had to be approval by council. I was curious about a tiny stone building in the back garden which, upon inspection, turned out to be an outhouse with the original toilet bowl and sink intact. They were beautiful painted with ornate hand-painted roses. But the real surprise was that instead of a mirror over the sink there was what looked like an original piece of rural art (big boxy-looking cows in a hazy pasture) by Courbold. Apparently it had been hanging there for decades. Whether it belonged there or not, I know absolutely that it was the perfect addition to the quaint little WC. Strong Feelings about Bathroom Decor |

In my building there is only one washing machine and one dryer for six units. The only sure way to know when they are available is to get up at 6:30am and stake your claim. I'm an early bird and prefer to get a load done before breakfast. One load in the morning, weekdays only (leaving more free time on the weekends), works for me and my 19 yr old daughter. One load of sheets and one load of towels per week. One or two loads (t-shirts, tea-towels, jeans etc.) a week are typically brought upstairs to hang to dry while we're at work. Ironing is done on a need to wear/special occasion basis. Tell Us: The Laundry Nitty Gritty |

Had this problem when I first moved into my apartment. They were climbing in through the spaces between the cabinet and the wall under the sink in the kitchen. Find the crack or hole and stuff it full steel wool. Don't worry - they don't eat it and they can't chew through it. They'll go elsewhere and leave you alone. It's a drastic step but it can be done. But first, ask yourself if the new space is going to be a long term address. If not, put the excess in storage until the time is right to move again. URBANCRICKET has the right idea. Employing her tips will keep things from getting out of hand. CLASSOF65: Employing a professional to come in to do deep cleaning every 3 months can be expensive if a home owner doesn't maintain at least a weekly cleaning schedule. Most qualified professional cleaners work for a minimum of 4 hours and charge $20 and up per hour for general cleaning and up to $25 per hour for heavy cleaning (ovens, garages, barbeque's etc which require special equipment and/or heavy chemical cleaners). Size of house and number of full bathrooms are taken into account when making a time estimate over the phone but a first visit (which normally take longer than subsequent visits) is when your cleaner can map out a strategy for doing the tasks you need and let you know what her/his particular skills are (can operate a carpet shampooer, grill steamer, floor polisher, etc; willing to use green products; ironing, laundry, etc . Matching skills to your needs is essential to guaranteeing a good job done in good time. 5 in 15: Five Spring Cleaning Chores To Conquer in Fifteen Minutes |
