- Chalkboard Paint
- I'm lol-ing as a read comments about granite-obsessed shoppers on HGTV. Too true.
- I'm annoyed every time I go to a thrift store to find a nice piece of antique furniture, and some hipster has already gotten a hold of it and painted it red. Why would you take beautiful piece of antique Art Deco furniture and abuse it like that!? Step away from your paint brush some time. (This is probably my biggest pet peeve)
- Sterile, MCM spaces
- What's with the wicker baskets everywhere? Why does everything need to be in a basket?
- Generic, boring patterns on pillows. I couldn't describe them to you, but I know them when I see them.

I love the "die, scowl, hate" sign suggestion.

Thank you for this post. Such a lovely, personalized space. I see so many spaces on this site that are nice, but they're somewhat bland - like modern boxes - and this apartment has inspired me to keep pulling pieces together that I really love, so I have a comfortable space that reflects me, not something that's trendy.

I'm about to commit guacamole blasphemy, but I loved the guacamole recipe I picked up in Costa Rica. Ripe avocados, fresh tomatoes, garlic, salt, Worcestershire sauce (while not authentic, it's tasty), and ground coriander. If I have cilantro on hand, I use it. If I don't, I don't. It tastes fine without it (sometimes, when you have avocado cravings, you just gotta do what you can with what you have). I loathe raw onion, so I never include it, but you could, if you'd like.

Knocking down the wall between the kitchen and "dining room" was a good idea, but I would've kept the archway. It provided something unique to the space, and without it, this room, while nice, looks like any number of other contemporary interiors I've seen lately.

I'm not sure how the spice containers in the top picture are staying on the wall, but it has inspired me to hot glue some small magnets to containers and pop them onto a metal surface. You've just this spice junkie space, a few more holes in the wall, and $25 on a spice rack organizer.
