The wood used for the floors and kitchen backsplash is a species called Cumaru, and it is mainly used for deck. It has a beautiful color, relatively affordable ($3.5 linear foot), and it will last you forever. It is perfect if you have kids or big pets, because it is very difficult to scratch, dent or stain.
