I made the pouf as a Christmas gift for Francisco last year. I modified a pattern from Better Homes and Gardens using two Mexican coffee bags picked up at the feed store for about $2 each, then filled it with fabric scraps, old clothes and fiber fill. Francisco picked up a pig mold at a thrift store years ago and started experimenting around with different materials, giving a few to friends occasionally. I was shocked at the number he pulled out of storage when the house was finally done ... like he had been waiting for years to build a space just for all these pigs.

All the wood backsplashes are left over pieces from the Brazilian hardwood flooring. And while there are minor things in the kitchen that a serious cook might tweak, Francisco Arredondo only eats, drinks and breathes architecture, so those things don't bug him much at all :)
