I would love a post about awesome looking appliances in white finishes. Black would also be nice. Retro, modern, just something a bit more exciting than the standard white but not stainless or ORB. Giving up a pet is so, so emotionally difficult. Between feeling like you've failed your beloved cats and the criticisms, hostility, and "why don't you just"'s people dole out, your poor sister is in for a rough few months. My problem with apple skins is the wax they coat the apples with makes me sick. Yuck! So far, I can only eat a raw apple that comes from the orchard or farm share. I've tried organic, still wax. I would use the white subway tile but try to find some mosaic accent tile (just a bit) that has both white and the beige color in it to echo back to the floor and kind of meld everything together. I have been dreaming of making a meal out of things on a mezze platter, so I'd go there. I built a similar kitchen addition (288 sq ft) but included an office wall and peninsula for dining space. Our dining room is right beside the kitchen. My list: - Clerestory windows on the side. I live in an urban-type environment and my neighbors house is close enough that I want light but not to see what he is doing. - Lots of room for an office. I ended up w/ a 12' desk that I share with my husband and son. - Maximum cabinet and counter space. I love appliances and dishes, I just don't want to look at them all the time. - Real wood cabinets. My husband and I tire of eating the kiddie food our 5 year old loves, so lately, once or twice a week I will make something we like to eat (hooray homemade vegetable soup!) and buy vegetarian corn dogs, chick'n nuggets, and microwave mac'n'cheese for our son. My five year old is slowly coming out of a long saga of eating grain + dairy + fruit. One thing I've noticed for us: He does NOT like it when I mix all the foods together. Salad? No way. Put out a tray with some cherry tomatoes, some chick peas, some olives, and some green peas? He'll eat it all night. So I started taking a few tablespoons full of all of my ingredients out and plating them up as a set of side dishes for everyone to share, but in reality, it's mostly him.
