Looks my livingroom. Espresso coloured bookcases (that don't hold books), dark TV stand in between and dark coloured furniture. My space has white walls and a lot of natural light, so the dark furniture offsets itself. I'd say, throw on a white or red throw on the couch (if you don't want to waste money, opt for the white). Hang a wreath behind the couch on the wall. Certainly a Christmas tree belongs in this, instant colour, instant light and a focal point. Probably best place is to put it by the window, it will hide the missing window framing. It already looks like the TV isn't centered, so shimmy down the couch/chaise and store the brown wooden chair (?) for the holidays. Buy Christmas decor that works with your colour palate already so there is no colour clashing. It also avoids having to put items away during the holidays. Less is always more. Since I like things to match, pick items that match your Christmas ornaments and lights. Nothing is more painful than veiwing an incoherent room. Tips For Decorating Bookshelves for the Holidays? Panels are a great idea. When I lived in a 200 sq. ft. bachelor suite, I bought a big bookcase that worked as a partition and a functioning storage unit. I also hung ikea curtains from the ceiling to separate the kitchen from the living room. It's effect made the small space look bigger and more open. I would have alternated the panels with another muted colour or a patterned fabric, because when closed it looks like a giant sheet, even though it does the job of covering the bed space from view. It looks like a plain wall that needs something hanging on it otherwise. Before & After: Create a 'Bedroom' in a Studio Apartment with Ikea Panels |

The ceiling is mega cool, but I would have anxiety at night from it. It would only encourage my sleepwalking habits. But the paint colours and decor is fantastic. Sofia's "Striped Ceiling" Room Room for Color Contest |

Ummmm wow! What a transformation. I love it when someone can see the potential of a space that has long since been neglected and deteriorated. Absolutely lovely! I love everything. Kitchen Before & After: Debra's Bibliothèque Paris Kitchen Renovation Reader Kitchen Remodel |

Another woman with too much clothes and no closet space. It's currently my problem too. In my old rented apartment it had one closet and not in the bedroom. When it comes to rentals, garment racks are great, but when you own, it's nicer not to have to see it. The way its arranged still looks great though. I liked the big purple couches, I just didn't like the material... or maybe it was a lack of different colours to break up the large item like some throw pillows and a throw. I loved the ladder bookcase, but so sad to see a blue milk crate holding up the last shelf's weight. A wine carton perhaps or vintage suitcase to hide the needed support? I loved the bedroom except the way the throw pillows were arranged. That mirror; a-mazing. Jennifer's Touch of Hollywood Glamour House Tour |

As much as I enjoy minimalism and that I live without 7 of the 15 items on her list, the philosophy of minimalism is logically silly since you still own possessions that tie you down to one place. If you're committing to owning a space, you might as well use what furniture you will use and apply the not keeping things you don't need around. I loved all of the pink, everywhere. The whole place was carefully and amazingly curated. One of my favourite house tours as well. I think the backyard could use a pergola and some vines. I seriously loved this house a lot. Rohde's "Opportunistic" Design Laboratory House Tour |

My province isexperiencing a high amount of fluctuating heat, heavy winds, tornadoes and thunderstorms on a regular basis. My tomato plant is turning yellow, but it's not from blight and I make sure it's not over watered or underwatered. I think the roller coaster weather is killing my plant which was doing so well last week. My smaller plants which sit higher than my large plant are doing great. Quebec cheese is delicious! For that size of log, I'd say it was worth the 21 Canadian for it. I've bought cheese a quarter of the size for 8 Canadian dollars. Specialty cheese must be cheap in America. A Small Cheese Mystery Solved: Saint-Maure Goat Cheese The Cheesemonger |

The are independent and dependent people out there. And there are people in between. I've been living on my own for two and a half years now and it's great. I bought my own condo this year, but I feel lonely owning my own place. I prefer to be alone 3 nights of the work week and spend the rest of my time being social, hanging out with friends, family or doing some kind of community or volunteering project. I keep thinking that I wish I had someone else to share my living expenses with so I could have more expendable income to spend on myself and traveling. Everything has it's pros and cons. I just won't give up living the single and living alone part unless I find someone I can't live without. There are much more pros about being alone than there is being together. It has to be worthwhile to give up self focused freedom. Why Do So Many Americans Live Alone? The New Yorker |

Some of the suites have too much pattern like the green wallpaper and green floor rug. The wallpaper in the one bathroom was awesome. Other than the wallpaper, the rest of the decor was colourful and contemporary and plain in all of the suites. I love the back of the pepsi sign. It's a great photo. Sadly my view is of other people's backyards and screaming children. Great Wall Coverings on the Waterfront Showhouse Tour |

The hair one is so disturbing and creepy. For those people who keep all their hair clippings (I've met a few) this is a great way to showcase it. It kind of seems like a nest. Which is even creepier. Superuse: Where Recycling Meets Design |

I'd rather date someone who had taste and style over somone who doesn't. Decor has a lot to do with creativity and personal expression. Bringing two different tatses into one that balances both designs means that their is harmony between the two styles. If you can't make it work, either it's you who isn't willing to change or the other person isn't willing to change. If you can't blend your styles and make it work, it's saying something deeper than what's on the outside. Would You Date Someone if You Really Dislike Their Style? |

All I can muster is 'Wow!' The wall colours, the natural light, the wall details, the layout... the physical space is superb. The decorating is everything I want my place to be; clean lines of the furniture, the pictures, the textiles and the immaculate utilitarian use of negative space. I say the only thing this home is missing is a comical and introspective French Bulldog. Chris & Jenna's Collection in the Castro House Tour |

Here's my tip. If Urban Outfitters is doing it, then don't do it. And if they're copying your style you've had long before, it'll pass. As for IKEA decor, pick and choose your battles. Sometimes they have things you can convert into other items and making it so unique that no one else is doing it exactly like you. Design Hipsterism? Why Do We Stop Liking What's Popular? |

I loved this. Perfectly decorated. It feels sterile. It's missing the human factor. A showhome can still have some organic touches. Maybe some non-direct people photos hanging on the walls, in frames... a throw on the bed possibly that looks like someone may have used it?
