Jesus. That description of cleaning ( or was that a description of someone's life?) just makes me want to hide. Or do something really different, like listen to loud rock and roll music and shoot up drugs.

Coincidentally, I just spent the day planting my potted vegetable garden. I'm a pretty avid gardener, so I had alot of big pots around, but what works the best is half whiskey barrels. You could even put them on wheels yourself! Granted they are big and round, so you do need some space. you can get whiskey barrels at Loews or Home Depot. Loews is where I would start.
The tubs above are totally impractical because they are too small. AND those pictures are crazy! Is that like three tomato plants I see planted in there. you'd be lucky to be able to grow one. Tomatoes have enormous root systems. The only thing that might work is an herb garden, but they do you really need that dumb thing for $200?
Anyways, whiskey barrels! They cost between $20 and $35. But if you're doing tomatoes, one per pot.

nice small space solution, IF THIS WAS A SMALL SPACE! It looks totally wierd, and clearly there's no lack of space in Jefferson's mansion.

hey gregory, I live right aroud the corner from you, and I've been trying to find out more about the 'lone gunmen' incident the other night. Funny, one or two days before that, a number of blocks around Effie were closed and there were lots of police. When I asked what was happening they said an armed suspect had broken into a house. Wierd. That was during the day. I wonder if they same guy just hung around for a while.

me again, sorry. I don't see marble with colored chairs at all. If you go marble, do white chairs with wood bases.

oh, sorry. Didn't read enough. You are switching the table too. Terrific! It'll look great. Change out the light fixture too, and lighten up the walls. That's my two cents.

Hi,
The fiberglass chairs are lovely, but they're for people who are interested in home design, who aren't super safe. The people I work with would never like them, but their places are all beige and look like bad model homes. So phooey to your coworkers.

If you want those chairs to work, I'd eventually switch out the table and the light fixture, (sorry, the last thing you want to hear!) The shell chairs are very light feeling, and the table and color of the room is fairly heavy. If you love the chairs, go for it! But I think to make them really sing I'd use a lighter color on the walls, more fun light fixture, and maybe a distressed wood table. Could you do a round table? The table you have now, is it a piece of granite? Honestly I don't see that table with those chairs. If you stick with the table, only use four chairs because now it looks very crowded. Put two extra chairs somewhere else. I also think that mixing the chairs with two more wire chairs will weaken the effect of the shell chairs. You want them to make a statement, not be diluted.

But hell, start with the chairs if you love them. They're such an investment get the color you like best and tailor the room around that color. Your livingroom is absolutely perfect for the feel of the shell chairs! I'd move the dining room in that direction too.

Nothing else has to cost what the chairs do. But I think you're looking at a redesign to make them work.

I don't agree with Djluckyonline. I think people in LA, especially Venice, do buy high end in a casual atmo. It's super nuveau riche, which we have alot of. Buy your $300 slink and linen T shirt at a little cute hole in the wall, that kinda thing. Or even your one of a kind dining set.

I am a landlord, and I would look into the combining the two apartments thing. Sounds fishy. Also, I don't know if it would do any good, but it's almost certain she signed something on her mortgage saying she wouldn't turn the 4 unit into a 3 unit etc. Lastly, if nothing else works I'd definitely follow up to see if she actually does the work. LA has a pretty pro tenant attitude.

Also, at my last check you cannot evict someone if you have to do $10,000 worth of work on the unit. Infact, I'm 99% positive. That used to be the case but isn't anymore. Obviously all landlords would be doing $10,000 worth of work to get rid of tenants paying substandard rent ( I know I would, call me SATAN.)

I just made one! It burns a surprisingly long time. I might even use them on my dinner table. Since we'll all be sitting there they will be supervised. I put mine on a little plate too.

try and find if there is any area where they could be living under the house and block it off! I had one under the house, I waited until around 11pm when I knew he'd be out and i blocked up the hole. That's a start. The pepper solution sounds good. Oh, and another wierd idea. I big piece of big dog shit. No kidding! My friend did this and the skunks stayed away because they could smell the dog. Good Luck!

It is a beautiful house, but I really don't think of it as a stellar use of color. I know neutrals are colors, but it just feels so safe and uncolorful. More of a winner for a straight design contest or something that is about textures. I don't understand how it got this far.

I think the grouping idea is great! re-frame it, and then hang it with interesting things. You can make the piece look more to your style then. It's probably easier to make it look quirky and harder to make it look minimal and modern. But with enough effort I definitely think it's possible.

Regarding vaccinations: I have my dogs blood 'tidered.' what that means is they check to see if the vaccine is still effective. It's been years since he's been vaccinated for rabies, at least 6 years, and the vaccine is still working. This test is very expensive, almost $200, but I can afford the peace of mind.
