I've never been able to not binge-read. In fact, I will often tell myself 'just one more chapter' and read until 4 am because I just can't put it down (and I have a very unhealthy disrespect for tomorrow) :P

A friend and I also had a Doctor Who marathon this winter (and by that, I mean ALL of the 9th, 10th, and 11th Doctor) and it was so much fun to re-watch them all. And because there wasn't a lot of time between the episodes, we caught a lot of the funny/sneaky time and character references the writers put in.

I admit, I can cheat a bit. This is my bike put away for the weekend, with bag, helmet, etc.

I like the idea of the wall racks, but I'd walk into the damn things in the middle of the night. I have seen someone build a thin rectangular box for their two bikes - it runs length wise down their one wall, with the couch in front. It looks like a stylish table placed behind the couch, with a few knickknacks (and the cat) lounging on it. Never would have guessed there were two bikes inside. It was winter storage, and they took the front wheels off so the handlebars could turn to fit sideways, then just placed the wheels inside.

Mario Kart.

No game has ever inspired as much swearing as Mario Kart, its subsequent versions, and those f*cking blue shells.

This is so much more refreshing to see than the annoying bright pink, teal, and purple in the back-to-school adverts. Seems like those are the only colours you can get from big box stores for residence stuff.

Love it! And great job with the living room 'rug', that solves what I'm going to do with my dining room. I also love what you did with the ikea bookcases, just to make them a tiny bit different.

Well done! And Lego Village People are the icing on the cake.

@Duane

Oh, she let me paint long before that. :) It was the dark grey she was hesitant about. 'Don' you want a bright blue, like the last time?'

Mind you, I wonder now if it's because she knew she'd have to cover it when I moved out.

As a child I would have loved this. It wasn't until I was twelve before my mother allowed me to paint my room with charcoal grey, and even though I've now moved to several new places, you can still find dark grey in my house.

Not all children love primary or pastel colours, and that white is certainly bright enough. I think it's an amazing room for a boy and girl to share. Well done. :)

This would stop me for all of two seconds. My macbook has an ethernet port.

Thank you for mentioning neighbours and allergies. I think beekeeping is a wonderful hobby and something that needs to be done to keep up bee populations, but only if you have the space for it. My mother is deathly allergic to bees, and manages to get stung on a regular occurrence. I don't know how she does it, but we've been through eleven epi-pens. So while both of us support the tending to the bee population, she would have to definitely tell any neighbour next door that they couldn't have the bees there.

Which sucks and she would feel bad, but it's unfortunately not anything she can help.

Bollocks. I already get motion sick in a regular train, never mind a high speed super man one.

Mind you, that would make traveling so much less tiring.

Ahaha In all caps too, I don't even know how I missed that. It's odd that the Delivery tab for that item IS filled out for international deliveries.

Tequila Red - it is available, just not by express shipping. So you'll have to wait a bit longer, but it's a bit cheaper than express.

I love that grey jersey bedding. Looks like I'll be off to shop at that store.

Analogue. And I love them. It's also easy for me to quickly glance at and instantly figure out time differences when I'm talking to relatives back home. I also have four different analogue clocks that tick on different frequencies. Love those too, and it keeps pesky house guests down. ;)

I hate this post. I didn't even make it past the cut before starting to tear up. I haven't lost my cat yet, but I've had him for seven years, and he's been to Europe and back with me. I've already told him he's not allowed to go.

But I know when it happens, I will be an absolute wreck, and I will want to keep his ashes. I do like the portrait idea, and perhaps when I have a bit more saved up, I will see if I can find someone to paint him. He's such an adventurous little bugger that sometimes I forget that he will go before me.

I hope your mum will soon find comfort in Dakota's things, and smile at the goofy memories pets bring.

Life-ning by Snow Patrol puts me in my happy place. It's just got a lovely slow tempo and beautiful lyrics.

So does Chasing Cars, but that's got more of a beat.

Hmm. I use Delicious Library 2 for my books and dvds, but I don't know if it does the rest of the stuff in the house. I shall need to investigate, as I've been meaning to do this for insurance purposes.

@Horror Vacui - probably came here looking at something shiny, like the smallest coolest contest. ;)

I have found though that the comments, sadly on the contests entries too, are getting into a lot of the 'ugh, I don't like /hate that' territory, and people are forgetting that these are actual homes they're commenting on. That's actually one of the main reasons I talked myself out of entering this year.

@LindenTree, agreed! And I've never even thought of not going to a mate's house because of how it was decorated. Now, if it was unclean, that's another matter...
