How Not to Let What Happened to Scarlett Johansson Happen to You

Or, or, here's a thought: don't take pictures of your backside on your cell phone, especially if you're a starlet of some notoriety who doesn't want pictures of your 'tocks floating around the interweb.

Go to the Container store and look at the Elfa shelving. We have a massive Fiesta ware collection along with half our kitchen hanging on one wall. One of my neighbors and I hung on it (300 pounds or so), and no issues yet. Spend the extra money and sleep easy.

Seeing this immediately made me think of my time camping in Boy Scouts when an adult would send an unsuspecting new kid off on a search for a left handed smoke shifter.

I love Sprout, especially since it's in my hood (Grand St gardens in great too where my dog is so well known that I'm called Patterson's dad), but if you're in Chicago, and you're serious about gardening, Gethsemane is the best in the city. Period.

I love the fact that I don't pay sales tax in Illinois now. But I also love when it snows, and they plow the streets. We have a pretty brutal sales tax in Chicago, but I'm not going to cry about it or anything. I will always check multiple sites to find the best deal on any given item, just like I always have, and if brick and mortar is cheapest, that's what I'll get.

@jezebella and jmorey- how do you like your Vizio, aside from the annoying light?

Is it just me or is the cost of this stuff a lot ridiculous? Two pieces of metal and some shelving should NOT cost $800. I know it's beautiful, and you can do anything with it, but you could probably commission a local who needs the work to do something just as nice.

Do you have kitchen shears in your kitchen? They aren't just for breaking down whole chickens. You can use them to cut paper too!

I wake up, take a dump, make some coffee...oh right. TECH. All of the above, and then I look at my phone to see if I have any email.

@mdorothy: that is really just ridiculous. Don't you know it's 2010? How do you know you've really cooled your laptop unless you're paying to do so?

Yeah, he probably could go with a twin sized bed there, because it's likely he's never going to need to worry about anyone else wanting to spend the night there.

What do people think of the streaming box sets like the Western Digital type deal? I've been considering putting all my media on to a hard drive and then stream it through the tv/stereo system. Or are these something completely different?

It's pretty damn expensive for a cup of coffee there, but pretty damn good. I'd say worth it all the way.

Also: I saw Jake Gyllenhaal totally sneeze all over some guy there once. It was like a shotgun blast of snot.

You can get one of those Bayou Classic turkey fryers too. The pot will hold a bunch of cans, usually comes with a rack for the turkey which keeps the cans off the bottom, and the burner will bring the huge amount of water to a boil in minutes.

I used a cooler for my first year, but I don't recommend it. Eventually, it starts to warp. Also, pouring 160 degree water into it...I don't even want to know what sort of stuff leached into my beer.

I recently switched to a pot with a false bottom. I had some issues with temperature as well, but it was pretty easily solved. I built a plywood box that fits over the mash tun, and just lift it off whenever I need to stir or check the ph, etc. It's a little ghetto, but it totally worked (I lost 2 degrees in one hour, which is about the same as when I used a cooler). I'm going to add a little insulation inside the box for when I brew outdoors in the winter.
