I use my Kitchenaid for a lot of things: cookies, bread, and ice cream mostly.

To solve the problem of having to scrape down the sides all the time, I've been using one of the paddles with the silicone scrapers (sideswipe is the one I use). We just had to replace ours after 3 or 4 years, because some of the scrapers tore off after my wife made oatmeal cookies, and the batter was way too thick. It works great for thinner batters such as chocolate chip cookies.

I cut it into pieces, put into a ziploc bag, then immerse it in a pot with running water at around 70 degrees.

it looks like it could double as a cocktail strainer!

As bamber said, this is a reason why I will not get a ceramic knife. I store my knives on a magnetic strip.

what happens when the roots grow really long and clog up the actual downspout?

I just bought a set from target (the very ones mentioned in this article), and hung them on my deck, which faces south and gets a full day's worth of sunshine.

These lights are not very bright at all, not even bright enough to use as decoration. They are ambiance lights, at best.

We saw something like this in Hawaii, at a horse ranch in Hana (Maui), of all places. It was gorgeous!

I was showing a friend my new Droid phone, and opened up the Pandora app. The station I was last listening to has Weird Al as one of the artists, and the song that came up upon loading the app was one of Weird Al's polkas!

My friend definitely looked at me funny.

This might work if the blocks were attached to the base unit with a chain or something. They would get lost too easily otherwise.
