I wish I could create a more minimal living space and pare down the furniture in my bedroom. But in a room with no closet, which has to triple as a study for my Masters work, a sewing studio, and my partner's gaming/computer room, we're lucky just to have floor space! That said, I think your message is valid even if I don't have the capacity to leave an entire room empty. Getting rid of clutter or extraneous items that we have around just to have is always a great way to give your living space some room to breathe. My friend bought my cat a cat bed. She ignored it. Her favourite spot to sleep for the past three days has been on top of a purple satin ball dress that I found for a dress-up party. I have no idea why. Reigning Cats & Dogs: 10 Sources for Stylish Pet Products |

My father is an artist (working mostly in oil and acrylic) and I really do agree with you on this. Even the giclee prints I have in my house aren't on the same level as his original works (which I'm also lucky enough to have quite a few of as well). 5 Ways to Update Thrift Store Art |

The store looks awesome, but I gotta say, what I really love is that Virginia Woolf tee-shirt. Any chance of a webstore link? OtherwildStore Profile |

I don't wear stud earrings, but I keep a nice decorative plate (closer to saucer/side plate sized than dinner plate, like so: http://distilleryimage10.s3.amazonaws.com/231c7e28f62211e1bcd822000a1de9d1_7.jpg ) on my dresser, and use that to corral my rings and bracelets. Since they're all laid out in sight, I don't forget to wear them, and it stops them from getting lost in the depths of a drawer. Pretty Organized: Stylish Necklace Displays |

Gorgeous, I love the gallery wall in the kitchen and that mirrored dresser is AMAZING (I love how it almost disappears because of the reflections, in general the use of mirrors to make the space look bigger is really smart and chic). I too could never pull out my couch into a bed each night, it's hard enough to get into the habit of just making it, but this is seriously impressive and beautifully pared down without looking sparse or spare. I have a water bowl for my cat too! It's under my table on the floor, but if I don't have one at all, she climbs all over my nightstand and face trying to drink out of my water glass. Pretty & Pragmatic: Cleverly Styled Nightstands |

I know it's tough running a website based in the States that feels accessible worldwide, but seriously. It's bad enough that I'm forever reading copy about "cosy throw blankets" when it's the height of summer here, they don't need to rub it in with such disparity in prizes! :P Enter Our Newest Contest Now: My Bedroom Retreat |

Small Cool last year ran from the end of March through to May, so maybe it's coming later on? This competition is pretty clearly sponsored by a bedroom furniture company, so the bedroom theme makes sense. Enter Our Newest Contest Now: My Bedroom Retreat |

This is my feeling, it feels just a liiiiiittle over-produced/styled. But it's certainly stunning, and I guess as the client lives in it and musses it up a little, it'll lose that movie-set look. A Bedroom Fit for a Fashionista Professional Project |

The Cire Trudon candles are ridic amazing (to match the ridic pricetag). My former flatmate and I split the cost of the Moroccan mint tea one a while back, and it smells SO good. Plus the glass jar is really pretty, I've kept it to use as a beautiful vase. Splurge Worthy: Chic & Complex Candles |

The only options here I really like are the first and last, and perhaps the washi-tape version for a studio inspiration pinboard wall. The others, especially those with prints hung diagonally or on top of patterned wallpaper, completely destroy the beauty of the art itself. There's no way to focus on the print or painting the way the artist intended. That said, if I could get away with built-in cabinetry in a rental, I'd love to have something along the lines of that first gallery wall/cabinet case, it's amazing. I'd feel pretty cautious about putting a glass of water on a shelf on my bed headboard. I'm not a particularly active sleeper but I still move about in the night, pillows get moved, etc, and I could all too easily imagine getting a shocking wake-up when the water tips over! I think a bright patterned/textured table runner and a lovely green pot plant (maybe a peace lily?) on the end of your credenza would go a long way towards livening up this dining room. At the moment it's quite sparse - a rug would definitely help but a table runner would bring the textures and patterns up to the table. And a splash of bright green foliage would work beautifully to offset all the stunning orange tones, especially in that beautiful painting. I wouldn't enjoy this as a whole room, but a little bit of shimmer in, say, a bathroom or dressing room with pale teal and white walls would look beautiful and feminine without being OTT. Also, my best friend is getting married soon and we've been planning to make some kind of bunting. That metallic pink leather bunting is PERFECT inspiration, thanks! Her wedding colours are gold, silver, pearl grey and navy/royal blue, so I can imagine strands of gold and silver pleather bunting adding a fantastic shine. New Year, New Trends: Pale Iridescents |

For my 21st birthday, my dad gave me a gift card to a fancy department store. I used it to buy a Le Creuset blue-enamelled skillet (adding a little of my own money). At the time I would never have had the funds to buy something like that and New Zealand doesn't have any cheaper Lodge etc cast iron. I still use that pan every day and it'll be around for the rest of my life. Styles Of Giving: The Practical Gift |

I've always bunged my sheepskin hide rug in the washing machine with wool detergent, let it drip-dry thoroughly in the sun, and then gently 'brushed' it with a comb to get the hair fluffy again. Works fine. How To Shop For a Sheepskin Rug? Good Questions |
