I love the updated accents! The barstools that match the dining room chairs are so cool, and the light fixtures change the feel of the room completely. 3M strips are a renter's best friend! I used them in the dorms to hang everything, and now they even make really heavy duty ones for hanging big hooks. I would put a large brightly colored picture on that wall next to the stove -- something you love so you won't even notice the rest of the kitchen :) If the bars on the window bug you, colored sheers would hide while allowing light.
