To me the greatest Baltimore transgression on this list is to call the beer "National Bohemian"- a true Baltimorean orders a Natty Boh! GO RAVENS!!!!!!!!

the above mentioned Nespresso Aeroccino froths and heats milk. Like SimplyWithStyle says, it's expensive but it works soooo well.

Apartment Kitchen Disaster: How To Stop a Blaring Smoke Detector (And Keep It Off!)

For those who are questioning the safety, I bring up the following points:
1. the author's clearly say to take it off when you are done cooking, and several posters have offered helpful suggestions so as not to forget
2. if there is a fire in another part of your house, I would sincerely hope that you have more than one smoke alarm, meaning the others in the house would detect the smoke from a real fire
3. if you don't have more than one smoke alarm, it's probably because your home is small enough to not need one, in which case it seems unlikely that you would be in one part of your house while a fire was going on in another part without your knowledge.

I am never one to dismiss fire safety (I had an electrical fire in an apartment once), but I think the temporary idea of a shower cap is perfectly fine. And I look forward to getting my own sensitive alarm to kindly be quiet while I cook!

I have a bar key from when I was a bartender. It's hard to explain without a picture, but I always use the other side of the circle and use my hand to hold the key and the bottle top. That way I am able to use the leverage to open the bottle, but still have the cap in my hand.

one benefit to having worked in a restaurant where I was opening and smelling about ten+ bottles of wine on a given night is that I know a corked bottle when I come across it. But even when I started, I feel like you just know when something "isn't right".

there is a fabulous pizza place in baltimore that has a "take and bake" option. they put the pizzas on parchment, and the directions very clearly say to preheat your oven as hot as it will go! delicious every time.

Just like some other comments, I had a fire in my apartment (in my unit, not just the building--though we were VERY lucky in fire department response) just about a year ago. You always think "I would save X" but when you are actually facing flames and running out of a building, the only thing you grab is yourself and those you love. my boyfriend and I got the hell out there, and I was in a nightgown and no shoes. kind strangers gave me shoes and more clothes to wear. the whole time we were watching the flames, my thoughts were not on the things I didn't take, but on our cat that was hiding under the bed (and who was eventually rescued by a fireman). It's nice to think of what one would save, but really, even the most sentimental items mean nothing next to being safe and alive.

seriously, why do people feel the need to fling around hate? it's so unnecessary, and extends in this community far beyond this post and celebrities. As soon as there is something people don't like, many feel the need to be outright mean about it.
On a different but related note, what about Martha Stewart? Do you haters truly believe that she sits down and writes all of those recipes? Or creates all of those crafts? I doubt it; I believe she has an amazing team who brings it all to her, and she gets to put her name on it. Does that make it any less of a good recipe, or any less of a cool craft? Absolutely not. I may roll my eyes, but I don't immediately dismiss it or spew nasty words. I take it at face value and enjoy it for what it is.

the recipe looks delicious, but I must correct your facts! All Jewish holidays begin at sundown, and unfortunately, most secular calendars incorrectly list the first "day" as the start of a holiday. While the first day of Passover is on Tuesday, it really begins at sundown on Monday, which is the night of the first seder.

Seriously, why do AT commenters have to be so judging all the time? Yes, I agree it's gross when I see the stack of magazines in my parents bathroom. But do I sometimes take a magazine in to the loo with me when I go number two? yes I do, and no- I'm not "in there too long". Sometimes I want to keep reading the article, sometimes it's the enchiladas. Doesn't matter if it's a couch choice or bathroom choice, you all always manage to have something rude to say.

@jeannenyc the author is not suggesting that you do all 30 things in 20 minutes in one day. Each item is a 20 minute task to do once a day in 30 days.

On another note, love it! Between work and my Master's classes at night, it can be tough to fit in cleaning, but I think I can manage these tasks.

I third loving them from BJs. My understanding of the name originates from BJs itself, or at least the way they make them. They cook the cookie in a pizza tin (BJs serves, among other things, a large variety of pizzas), so the name is a combination of "pizza" and "cookie".

do you have an immersion blender? It works great for making whipped cream, and is easier to clean than a mixer.

I agree with many of the posters here- why are we so afraid of germs? There are so many microscopic germs and bugs that are around us all the time, but seem to be doing just fine. I can understand concern for those with weak immune systems, but for the general public, germs are ok! I use my pouf for a few months before I replace it, and I've used poufs for who knows how many years. Amazingly, I am alive to speak about it.
