Sorry but it is weird. Why not integrate them into the new renovation?

SOOOO much better! The scale of the furniture is much more appropriate. I agree with an earlier poster about the art work on either side of the fireplace. It seems too small. I also am not a fan of the rug. I think the placement of the rug is also off. But none the less, it is a vast improvement.

We have four backless stools for our bar....they are fabulous!!! We have a very tall breakfast bar and couldn't afford extra tall stools that were nice looking. So I found the Lyon stools online and they were not only affordable but look great in our cottage/rustic style home. They are wearing wonderfully too:-)

I wish you would have kept the recessed medicine cabinet. The vanity is nice and the tiles are okay but I would tire of them.

I like lay out 2 best. It feels less crammed in and while you are in the kitchen, you are still able to see the living room and be a part of the action.

While I do think it looks better afterwards, I don't think it looks bigger.

This is a great sofa. A peice of furniture with good bones is what is important. Get it reupholstered and pair it with whatever peices you like!

I agree with @Lady J. I love jcp! I love their sports/active wear. I am a pilates instructor and runner and the quality for the price is excellent. Their brand is Xersion and is awesome. The prices are comparable to Target but in my opinion are of far greater quality. It is sad that they are having to shut down stores and frankly I don't really understand why. I would prefer stand alone stores (like Target, Kohls, etc) rather than having to go to the mall to shop. Saying that, I have been shopping online much more because I hate going to the mall!

@3dogma I totally agree. I love this remodel! It is clean and white and bright. I don't see how subway tile can be called 'passe' when it has clearly withstood the test of time. As for storage, well I recently also removed our upper cabinets and we love it! Although we did have a pantry built so food storage wasn't an issue, it made me par down my non-essentials. A great decision on your part!

We have a very small kitchen that was closed off from the rest of the house. A few years ago we opened up a wall and added a small walk-in pantry (stole some space from an outside access storage room). During this process we added three open shelves on the remaining wall. It houses our daily use items like bowls, plates, glasses, and coffee cups. I also have a few decoration pieces and plants. We love it! It makes such good sense in our space as the living room is now visible. I do a thourough dusting and wiping down a few times a year but just regularly wiped down the shelves before unloading the dishwasher. It is just my husband and I so it is super practical. I wouldn't change it at all!

My Vitamix. The best appliance hands down! We use it more than once a day, everyday.

Great space! I love the rustic feel. I noticed how your kitchen cabinets look a lot like ours and we ended up removing the upper ones and adding open shelving. I could totally see using some reclaimed timber for shelving in your place. The pallet idea sounds great too. We have used several in our house, all in a variety of ways.
Hope to see some more pictures once you have finished your future plans.

Yes, I have to agree with Glasseye...the book cases seem to suck the life out. And I LOVE books in the bedroom. Maybe if they were a different color and not so looming. I have two of those Ikea pillows and love them!

I love the before. I do agree with someone earlier who said just doing the handles would have make a nice change.

@whatfreshhelltwenty...I would have to agree. I was a little disappointed when I saw it but still the concept is good. I really like the hamster house idea! I made my nieces a barbie house out of a big box and lots of imagination. We hot glued bits of fabric and my nieces came up with all sorts of creative ideas for furniture, "wall art", etc. It is so cool to see them use their imagination.

Wow, what a sad and boring kitchen transformation. It would make me feel claustrophobic. It is very bland and builder grade. It seems much smaller!
There is also absolutely no personality or color!

What an amazing score! But like previous comments, I am sad that you painted it. I am all about painting wood, don't get me wrong. But that piece was so cool as is. I also agree that it would be a great kitchen island however if you are like me and have no room for an island, you have to do what you have to do!

Thrift stores are a part of my life that I thank my mother for. I live by them. My vintage dress collection is vast and fun. I only by new basics, like tank tops, under clothes, etc. I definitely agree that you must be choosy and not lower your standards. That takes time and discipline but is well worth the effort. I have thrifted in multiple countries and have a house full of collected pieces that I love.
