I love Jamali! In addition to being great for gardeners, it's an excellent source for party planning. They have all manner of vases, trays, candleholders, and interesting decorative pieces.

Reminds me of this book Children Just Like Me (http://www.amazon.com/Children-Just-Like-Me-Celebration/dp/0789402017) and the companion book about celebrations. I love seeing this kind of thing and especially sharing it with children to see what their reactions are to people who have a lot more or a lot less than they do.

Absolutely love this because it takes into account the loves of the child over the parents' design goals, etc. Looks like a terrific party!

I grew up in a 3000+sf home in Austin but have lived in tiny NYC apartments for the last 13 years. It's nice to see that someone in Austin "gets" that it's totally doable to live in a small, efficient space!

I'm two weeks for my due date so hopefully someone I know will read this:
-Food (homemade meal, something for the freezer, groceries)
-laundry (come do mine or drop it off at a local cleaners and arrange delivery or give a gift card for the service)
-babysitting (really just hold the baby so i can take a nap or a shower)
-cleaning (load the dishwasher, wipe down the kitchen, or give a giftcard for a cleaner)

When I help other new mamas, I ask what is needed and offer the quotidien things listed above along with willingness to research lactation consultants, pick up embarrassing things at the pharmacy, etc. Most people have a hard time asking for help at this time in their lives but if it is offered with a smile, accepting becomes so much easier!

Love this! When I was her age I always imagined I was falling asleep in the back of the covered wagon and I hand-stitched little pouches in dim lighting so I could have the true pioneer experience!

TravelingRae, have you tried thinking about the drawer vertically instead of horizontally? Most organizers are designed to have things lay flat (pens and pencils on their sides, stapler and tape dispensers flat, etc) but maybe you just need tall thin organizers in which everything can stand on end.

We have fancy weird shaped silverware and tiny NYC apartment drawers. I spent forever trying and failing to come up with cutlery dividers that would work for both, even considered super expensive custom made drawer inserts. Then one day I was in the wholesale district in a cheapo jewelry store and I saw tons of different necklace and bracelet boxes for like 50cents each. I got a little stack of them and sure enough, a year later, they are still perfectly dividing up the silverware! I could cover these with contact paper or fabric or stick them together or something, but so far they are working perfectly as is (and cost like $5.00 total.)

NOVA NATURAL! I love their beautiful catalog and all the inspiring and high quality products they sell. I sent a toy boat from them to a 5 year old a few years back and his mom said "he knew from the moment that he opened it that it was a special toy." I have a kiddo on the way and you better believe a bunch of my registry items are from Nova Natural.

Given the option, I wouldn't want to use one of these, but in a Manhattan apt with tiled walls there aren't many great other options. In the end, we found a great one with attractive doors. It's white like the rest of the cabinets and the tile so it recedes somewhat. I personally don't find that it interferes with any toilet activity and it is always nice to conceal all your toiletries so your bathroom appears neat and calm.

When your kids are still new to drinking from a tumbler, you can put silicone sippy cup lids like these on the picardies:

This gets them ready for the "weight" and feel of pouring from a glass into their mouths but with a little more guidance.

Wow, I really like this. Looks like the wood is sort of suspended within another substance, I'd want to know what that material is.
