The only time I've been friends with my neighbors was when I was in college living in the Dorms. Of course then we all had a common goal of smuggling in the keg and not getting busted for our 20+ person party in a 12x15' dorm room.

Since then I have lived in apartment buildings and don't get much more than a hello in the hallway.

Next week I will be moving into my first house. I plan on introducing myself to as many of the neighbors as I can. I feel now that I am settled for some longer period of time it is good to know the people nearby. I will probably start with just knocking on doors. Who knows what kind of people I will meet.

@mosfette you could do all of those things with a tablet hooked up to a TV. From a setup standpoint its much simpler then a HTPC. Or just buy a tv with googletv built in or a googletv set top box (99$).

Been without cable/satellite for over 2 years. I still have internet and basic cable for local channels (location doesn't work with OTA). I primarily use Netflix and occasionally hulu. There are a few shows I splurge on and use Amazon or Google Play to watch. Overall my Yearly bill for internet, basic cable, and purchased shows comes down to around 85$ per month (26$ per month if internet is excluded)

When I had DirecTv I was spending around 160+ per month for TV and internet.

@pedalpowered

aerating the solution is simple as shaking the bucket to introduce more oxygen into it. Or you could use a aeration stone and air pump if you are so inclined.

An easy method would be to drill a bunch of holes into the bottom of the bucket that holds the compost. Stack that bucket into the final "liquid" holding bucket. Add the water. When you want to separate the liquid from the solids simply lift the compost bucket out and let it drain.

You might need to agitate the compost while it is draining to get as much liquid as you can out of it.

Not sure what Gen I am (I'm 25), but I grow various hops on my 5x12 apartment balcony. And yes I use the hops to brew my own beer :)
