Love it! So masculine and Mad Men without being kitschy or over the top. And now I want to hang my flat screen and surround it with art, it disappears, what a great trick! Ken's Breakfast in Bed Bedroom My Bedroom Retreat Contest |

Oh I love this kitchen! We're planning our re-do and were thinking of using all white, but then saw the light blue ikea cabinets and were thinking of using them with the white, but had dismissed it as "too difficult". Never mind, we are back on the blue cabinets! And wallpaper! And maybe even building a bench in our adjacent breakfast room. This kitchen is amazing! Yay, so happy to see Jester King on here. I finally made it out to their brewery a few weeks ago and what a lovely place to while away an afternoon with friends! The kids ran around and enjoyed the nature while the parents got to enjoy some lovely brews and each other's company. For just $10, you get 4-6 samples AND one of their awesome glasses. What a bargain! A Visit to Jester King: Craft Beer in Austin Maker Tour |

Very well said. My daughter's elementary recently won a really large grant and I'm disappointed they're going to blow a large portion of it on an IPad for each classroom. What in the world are they going to do with one overpriced IPad???? I wish they'd at least consider a Google Tablet or some other cheaper option, although I think that's a waste as well. I just have to say I LOVE your house! It's so wonderful to see a home that looks like real people live there and decorated it on a real budget! And I think the yellow and blue are gorgeous, cheery and suit the space perfectly. Definitely inspiring and I'm so glad to see a non-all white place! So happy to see a profile for Whip-In! One of the things we were most excited about when we bought our house was being back close enough to have it be the place we just stop by to pick up our beer, after living further south for 6.5 years. The Whip-In: Keeping Austin Weird Well-Designed Travel |

My kids (2 and 5) love to play in their room. Sometimes I go play with them, sometimes I don't and they disappear for hours, or they drag stuff out into other parts of the house, then put it away at bedtime. No biggie. I don't know when we decided kids have to have a bedroom AND a playroom, but not everyone lives in a giant house where children can have a suite of rooms. A Bedroom + Playroom, All In One |

So glam and girly, I love it! If I got to design my place with no consideration for anybody else's tastes, I imagine at least the bedroom looking a lot like this. Vanessa Deleon's "Glamilistic" Studio Apartment House Tour |

Wow, this may be my favorite house tour of all time! Would almost make it worth living in Oklahoma:) (Just kidding, I'm in Texas and we are required by law to make that comment). What an amazing space! Back To The Old House With The Smiths House Tour |

I LOVE this place! So clean, so sparse, so modern, oh I just want to move in! Of course, I could never keep it looking like this, but it is wonderful to dream. Michael & Benjamin's Modern Contemporary Apartment House Tour |

I love this house! It looks like it is inhabited by real people with a real life budget who aren't designer-whores. It's so light-filled and you have lots of my favorite color: orange! Dana & JB's Single Family Home + Studio Gem House Tour |

I agree that IKEA is a great source. Our dining table is the Bjursta in the really dark stain and you can't see anything on it. People come over and are shocked I don't make them use coasters, but it really holds up! Attractive, Family-Friendly Dining Room Tables Good Questions |

@Stephanie- we also just write thank you notes for people who sent the gifts and aren't there when they are opened. Grandparents and Aunts and Uncles who are there with us don't get written thank yous, although I think it would be nice to do them, it's just too overwhelming. My husband's family is rather large and very generous, and I can't always keep track of which gift came from which Aunt and Uncle! But we do thank them profusely in person and share photos of the kiddos enjoying the gifts. Snowed In: Five Things To Do Inside As A Family |

So lovely to see your house finished! I've followed the evolution off and on as you've posted on various places; Lotta Living perhaps and I think maybe Retro Renovation? Anyway, it has turned out fantastically. You also have the kitchen cabinets we just saw this week at IKEA and are thinking about putting in our kitchen. They're just so mid-century, they look gorgeous! Hunter & Casie's "Redneck Modern" Eichler Home House Tour |

This is good advice, but I'd add one more: be friends with your neighbors and let them know when you'll be out of town. Our neighbors all look out for each other, pick up mail for each other, etc. when we go out of town. Knowing who should be in your neighborhood and shouldn't, and calling the cops when something is suspicious, is the best way to keep yourself and your neighbors from being robbed. this whole article kind of grossed me out. I don't think dirty laundry really smells that bad, but all the talk of it smelling, and the thought of it wafting up from under my bed was kind of disgusting. I'm glad I have room for hampers on my closet! Laundry Organization For Small Spaces |

I second the suggestion of hanging them under your kitchen cabinets by cup hooks. It's a great look and it will make you happy to see them everyday as you enter your kitchen!
