Anyone who constantly redesigns their house based solely on what's "in" is an idiot, plain an simple. Decorate with what you like. To hell with anyone who doesn't like it.

You've got to do stuff like that with a very, very, very light hand (no pun intended). The picture above, for instance, is wretched and overdone. Lighting behind a headboard, though? I think that can be very subtle and interesting.

I don't really have an opinion one way or the other. I just feel sad for the cute little sad vegetarian girl in the picture. Poor thing...

Dream on. By the way, we need you to replace all your light-bulbs again.

Canadians got a lot of things right. (Beer. Hockey. Syrup. Newscasters.)

Have you ever noticed how many of the "green solutions" that are foisted on us every day involve us spending more money on something? "Here's replace your 35-cent light-bulb with this twisty light-bulb. It costs $12, but if you buy fifty of them, it will save you $50 over the course of your life in energy expense!"

And then, 6 months later "Hey, those $12 twisty light-bulbs we sold you are no good. If they break, they can fill your house with deadly toxins. So we need you to replace all your $12 twisty light-bulbs with these $16 plastic-coated twisty light-bulbs. Don't worry about about the 50 $12 light-bulbs. We can properly dispose of those...for a nominal fee, of course."

If they're not careful, the environmental movement is going to relegate themselves to 'snake-oil salesmen' status.

I say go with the chest freezer. You've already got the freezer on your refrigerator for quick access. I use my chest freezer for more long-term freezing, which it excels at.
