If you're vegetarian consider the cast iron since it'll leach some iron into your food.

I've also heard from one of the etsy sellers that the dansk pots are really delicate because they have a glass (?) coating on the inside. So they can't be used for heavy duty heating.

What about the bottle itself? Can it still be recycled? It's possible that cutting it up may make it not recyclable.

I made veggie noodles for a friend in a similar situation and she loved the change.

- cooked soba noodles and tossed them in a a little sesame oil to avoid sticking.
- blanched a bunch of veggies
- made a thin sauce with soy, oyster, sesame oil and scallions. No sugar but a little bit of chilli since she likes spicy foods.

I kept everything separate so that the kids to eat the noodles and veggies alone if they wanted to and the parents could combine three components to their taste.

I wish I had made a note of the sauce recipe because she loved it and I would really like to reproduce it for her.

Bulgur for Breakfast, Anyone?

It's called dalia and eaten only in the winter in the northern parts of India. Heavy heavy deliciousness. It's first roasted with butter/ghee and then cooked in milk.

I keep a plastic tub-like thing from ikea, it's small enough that I have to empty every few days. It sits underneath the sink. Here's the thing, it doesn't smell and I haven't has any trouble with fruit flies. I really don't know why that's the case. Of course, now that I've said something I'm asking for an infestation.

Wow, I really don't know what to say. A traditional kitchen doesn't mean an outdoor kitchen with a tandoor in India. Traditional kitchens aren't only used in villages. There are urban traditional Indian kitchens too.

Stinky foods are lovely. I think they have more umami than 'regular' foods.
Love me some dried fish, stinky cheese, organs (esp. liver)...
That being said, stinky tofu really scares me.

Nothing that's been force fed or was alive when it was cooked. But otherwise, I'm game for anything. Wait except stinky tofu, that scares me.

Fresh peas are delicious even raw but the frozen ones have to be slightly mushy. I love peas stewed w/ ground meat or cumin and curry leaves.

Why do I dislike this beet so much? I grew a batch and couldn't stand the taste. I gave everything I grew to friends. I love beets so that's not it. These just have a really strange after taste to them and they altered the taste of everything I ate for next fifteen minutes. I also tried a beet from the farmers market so I know it's not the batch I grew.
