Good point, @diedre.ribbens. This looks like a fantastic upgrade, but a kitchen without outlets isn't doing anyone with a coffee maker much good. Still, I love the ingenuity of this!

Change the light fixture, paint the trim white and walls a light blue or gray as mentioned above. Definitely change the hardware and paint the cabinets white. Maybe to add a little visual interest, you could switch one or two of those cabinet doors out for a glass-front door? Something that would show off what's inside-- preferably clear or white glassware.

Your ceiling color also looks a little dark. Paint that white, too!

This will not be a popular opinion, but I'd kind of love to see a beaded curtain. No? Just me? I know for some that might conjure up images of their 1999 teenage bedroom, but I could see the right beaded curtain adding a really cool visual element to the room while providing separation.

But yeah, at the very least, take allll those magnets off the fridge and declutter that area in general. I can imagine it's tough in such a small space - options are definitely limited. But embrace it!

Why, hello - you're living my dream life! Beautiful home, every bit of it. I love that the cabinets in the kitchen are painted the same color as the walls. And the bathroom tile is gorgeous and funky! I'd take it exactly as it is... ESPECIALLY those two adorable dogs and the VW bus. (Swoon.)

Also, where'd you find the gorgeous storage cabinet thingy by the main entrance?

@cooljake - What's more tacky-- having a wedding registry, or showing up to a wedding without a gift, but fully expecting to be fed? That's ridiculous. The only way I can see registries being tacky is if, as mentioned above, the couple goes wild and requests expensive, indulgent gifts. Otherwise, I've found them to be extremely helpful. I'm glad to know that the gifts I've given to married friends are something they'll actually love and not just tolerate, hide, or give away.

Also, just because "most couples" YOU know have plenty of "stuff," doesn't mean the same is true for, like, all of the about-to-be-married couples of the world.

Cute couple, cute home, and, well, the view... OBVIOUSLY awesome.

I have to say, though, these photos seem a bit amateurish. Why do we need a picture of the shoe rack? So many other photos lack a balanced horizon (tripod?), and the lighting's a little blah. Someone could've spent more time getting the perfect angle on otherwise awkwardly focused pictures. Not of the professional caliber we're used to as AT readers.

I can see that last bed being perfect for a studio apartment. Not only does it add a lot of extra storage, but you could use it to add separation between sleeping and living areas.

I couldn't afford that rent on my own. I couldn't live in that apartment with someone else. Not a reasonable option in my opinion, even in SF.

I missed out on a great rattan (wicker? I should really Google the difference) round-backed chair for only $25. I knew I didn't have a place to put it, so I told the shop owner I'd check out another store, think about it, and be right back. I came back with the intention of buying it (what the hell, right?) only to see that he'd closed the shop five minutes early. The worst part was, the chair was sitting on the front porch of the shop-- I could still look at it, sit in it, and pine after it. But I couldn't exactly leave $25 on the porch and take the chair with me. The next time I went back, it was gone. A similar chair on Etsy is going for $200+.

This was months ago, and I still think about that stupid, beautiful chair.

If this style of chair were taller, I'd TOTALLY buy that first one to go with my desk. It looks so much more comfortable than my little IKEA folding chair.
