I'm from Spain, where we use the metric system, so cooking with american recipes with their cups, pints and ounces makes cooking a bit like alchemy to me. My boyfriend and I are both 28, and we just moved to the country, mainly in a cutting expenses move. But honestly, even though I'd like to return to the city at some point, I would rather stay here than moving to the suburbs (and that's where I grew up!). Actually, what I like less from my new country village is the fact that I have to get to the suburbs to watch a film. Huge malls, I didn't miss you one bit. Will Gen Y Ever Move to the Suburbs? My boyfriend is the tidy one at home, so he was at first glad I'm doing something about my chaos. Then he was horrified the paper stacks around the house weren't in the list yet (I swear, I don't even see the mess anymore!)and now he participates fully, and we negotiate the changes we do around the house. Or at least he asks what exactly is turquoise blue. He still hates the outbox he sees as a nest of chaos, but at least he didnt laugh much when I got home with the flowers and realized we didn't have a vase. Hooray for the water jug! Besides time and space,we Y people have the problem of availability. I grow an insane amount of plants in four window boxes at my rental, but if i want to buy quality soil, or secateurs, i'll have to borrow a car on a Saturday and drive to a garden center, or spend too much money in a posh marijuana-friendly shop downtown. Maybe its a problem in just my European ciyt, but buying supplies in an urban area is certainly a challenge with no car, if you don't want just what the convenience store offers.
