Hi @AnnabelVita,

The shelving unit is made using pine, walnut stain, 25mm brass plated steel tube (used for wardrobe rails), brass plated end sockets (again for wardrobes), black spray paint to paint the tube and sockets, 21mm dowel, 6 small metal angles for fixing to the wall and some screws.

The timber is cut to size and 21mm holes are drilled in the desired locations, about halfway through the bottom and top shelves and all of the way through the others.
The tube is painted and cut to the desired height of the shelves, this can be done with a hacksaw or a pipe cutter.
The dowel has to be cut to this length plus the thickness of a shelf (half of the extra length goes in the shelf below and half in the shelf above).
The end sockets are painted and then screwed into place at the top and bottom of each pole.
I was surprised at how sturdy it was at this stage but still decided it was best to fix it to the wall using metal angles. These were painted black and located under the third shelf from the bottom and above the top shelf.

Please let me know if you have any more questions about it, as I know I haven’t explained it were well. It is easier to make than explain!

I am going to be making another one shortly and it would be easy enough to make another one at the same time if you are interested.

Ben
