I despise the corporate world and everything about it, but I adore SteelCase tanker desks! A neighbor was selling one for $150 on my apartment building website's "Bulletin Board" - I got it for $80 and love it! It's incredibly heavy so 2 maintenance guys had to move it to my place. The drawers are very deep & hold EVERYTHING, so my work area looks way less cluttered now. Everyone who comes into my apartment - friends, family, delivery men, the super etc. -comments favorably on it. One even tried to get me to sell it for a few hundred dollars, but even if he'd offered me a few thousand, I wouldn't have parted with it. I agree with Noelle153. Not a beige/neutral fan but this room is deliciously warm and inviting and not at all boring! Michael's "Brassy 60's Den" Room Room for Color Contest |

Hi, I recently painted my bathroom a deep grayish plum called Tropical Dusk (Benj.Moore), similar to the dark plum squares in your shower curtain. It is absolutely stunning, sophisticated, complex, NOT at all pastel (which I don't care for, that's just me), inviting and is now the favorite color in my apartment. And I'm a paint freak who constantly repaints different colors, but this one's definitely a keeper! My friends love it too, so much so that when they come over they like to hang out in the bathroom because the color is so comforting. And it does NOT make the room look smaller at ALL. http://www.benjaminmoore.net/samples/1432.html Paint Color For More Inviting Bathroom? Good Questions |

Grege Avenue - it has a delicious complexity to it yet it can work as a great neutral. And I agree with Naschkatze - extend the color to the door squares. Help Me Choose the Right Color: 10 Paint Possibilities |

This doesn't exactly relate to THIS this thread, but: I posted the Norman Bates quote from PSYCHO because I love the film. I even did my bathroom in Psycho motif: got a towel at Bloomingdales, had it monogrammed "BATES MOTEL." Alas, I no longer have the towel - that was 30+ years ago. But I think the monogram guy is still there, at the 59th St, Bloomie's. In fact, I think I'll get another Bates Motel towel, :>D Decorating with Stuffed Birds? |

“It's sad... when a mother has to speak the words that condemn her own son... but I couldn't allow them to believe that I would commit murder. They'll put him away now... as I should have... years ago. He was always... bad. And in the end, he intended to tell them that I killed those girls and that man. As if I could do anything except just sit and stare... like one of his stuffed birds.” - Norman Bates, speaking in his mother’s voice. Decorating with Stuffed Birds? |

Always thought of ants as more suburban/rural. Saw them growing up on L.I. In Manhattan I'm more familiar with roaches, of course, and it never occurred to me that we even had ants in Manhattan . . . until last week, when my neighbor across the hall -- and it's not a very wide hall -- told me he's been having an ant invasion for a while. Yikes! So thanks for starting this thread! Pesky Pests: How Do You Get Rid of Them | Apartment Therapy DC |

P.S. And I'd get rid of that small cream-colored one at the far right. It sends the decor into the "looks-likes-storage-facility" category. Shabby Chic Shelving: Mismatched Bookcases | Apartment Therapy Boston |

Did my foyer in "Bahaman Sea Blue" - Benjamin Moore, 2055-40. Trim is "White Opulence" - BM, 879. It's delicious, and I find I'm always drawn to it. I could be sitting on sofa watching the TV but keep looking back at the foyer, :) Color at Home: Best Bold & Bright Turquoise Paints | Apartment Therapy Chicago |

The first room reminds me of the Seinfeld episode "The Nap" - where Jerry hires the contractor who built George's under-the-desk nap-at-work station to build cabinets in his open kitchen. These look as oppressive to me as Jerry's did. He eventually removed them. Reclaimed Wood In Kitchens | Apartment Therapy New York#comments |

For me this is a very retro trip down Memory Lane! This is what people did in the late '60s/early '70s, used milk crates, often combined with concrete cinder blocks stolen from construction sites, to create bookshelves/storage units. By 1978, most of my friends and I had graduated to "real" furniture, :) It was fun at the time, though! Apartment Therapy Chicago | Cantilevered Milk Crate Storage Bench |
