I echo a lot of what spanky said. I live in an old loft and have a condensation problem. I narrowed it down to a combination of things: using my gas stove without putting the vent on (creates a lot of steam in the air), long showers, dryer ventilation system letting air leak out and leaving clothes hanging to dry. Any time I did one or a combination of these things I got the condensation. Quickest fix was running a dehumidifier. If I keep it under 50% humidity I'm usually fine, which sometimes only requires me to run it when I have the dryer on or on really cold days.

I'd had this recipe saved for months and finally made it today. We're vegan and I try so hard to find healthy recipes that aren't soy heavy or 90% carbs. WOW. This blew my mind. I think initially I was worried I wouldn't like the combination of flavours but it came together perfectly.

I used coconut oil (just a tad) to sauté the onions, light coconut milk instead of full fat and didn't add salt (my sun dried tomatos had some in them and that was enough). My boyfriend doesn't rave about anything that isn't french fries and processed food and he said this was one of the best meals I've made him. Thanks!

Just realized I missed the photo of the Paris apartment with records. Oops.

Surprised there are no examples with vinyl records.

I would love, love, love to rid us of our 3 (!!) bursting full expedits but alas, there just doesn't seem to be another functional, minimal solution that isn't custom. So long as you set them up right, they are perfect for keeping vinyl neat and supporting the weight of many records.

The previous owner of our loft renovated our bathroom and built a sliding plexiglass door with a metal frame that slides away from the shower on a track that runs across the ceiling. It rarely stays shut and causes water to leak all over the floor. When opened, it spews water everywhere as it slides. The frame is rusting and to make matters worse, there are hardwood floors in the bathroom so the water always being everywhere is a problem.

Our bathroom is beautiful... but I hate the headache!

Is there a window of time you could ask her not to use it, or can you let her know times where you are not around to try and contain her use to? Hopefully, she just gets sick of it once the initial blow of the cost wears off and it ends up in the corner.

We went with the Gus Modern Richmond sofa. Still super comfy, but nice and modern. http://www.onlyhuman.ca/richmond-sofa.html

Or the trim off of the door?

We lucked out by taking the legs off of our couch and turning it every which way.

I live in a loft, and have difficult stairs, but not this difficult. I will say one thing though, this is not much better/worse than lofts I've seen with just ladders up to the bed or platform.

In 2006-2007 I lived in the area behind The Drake Hotel in Toronto. I guess it was still a bit up-and-coming (definitely no trendy bars on Dundas!) but I was coming from an even dodgier area and it was luxury to me.

When I was looking to move from a terrible roommate situation I scoured craigslist. The going rate for a basement bachelor was around $900 which I definitely could not afford. I found one ad that didn't list an area other than West Toronto and had no pictures. Oh and it was $550 inclusive.

I showed up at the open house convinced I was walking into a trap. Instead, it was an incredibly cute full 1 bedroom apartment in the basement of a wonderful blue row house. Sure the ceilings were short. There was only 1 window, but I had a beautiful exposed brick wall in my big eat in kitchen and a full bedroom and separate living room.

The landlords were sweet and it even had AC. Rare for Toronto. I only moved out to move in with my boyfriend, and our rent for the two of us to live in a one bedroom ended up being almost 3x what that place was.

In St. John's Newfoundland all of the houses are painted unique and different colours. I believe if you want to change the colour of your house you have to apply to the city. They want to make sure that it stays interesting and not every house becomes white.

This is a typical row of houses: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7220/7161999632_8789ffe0ea_z.jpg

Is that hood range from IKEA? Does anyone have any opinions on it? I need a new one and like the look of this one.

I learned this from a friend's mom when I was a kid, but I'd never heard it from anyone else or in any cookbooks so I worried it wasn't accurate and stopped (I'm not very good at science). Thank you for validating this method!

When I'm travelling to other countries roaming is SO expensive that I don't use the data on my iPhone. Instead, I use google maps to route directions from one place (like my hotel) to another that I need to go on the trip (like a restaurant or attraction). Then, I screenshot that route with iPhone so it saves to the photos section of my phone and is accessible offline.

I as well don't find this very industrial. When I think industrial I think much more of raw and selvaged materials. I don't think of crown moulding or that style of cabinetry in an industrial loft, it feels more like a large high end house to me. I do love the bedroom, though.
