@tenbar
the source for the "angel cat" art was a friend of mine who patiently pealed it off of a dumpster near South Congress. It's from a street artist that has posted these all around Austin.

@alexisfromtexas - of all places, we found those feeding towers at Petco. While moderncat.net features lots of yummy modern cat things, apparently most people don't need towers like we do :)

Leah here - thanks for all of the lovely comments! I love reading the animal stories the tour invokes. Pets are awesome.

As for cat tips -
@JAX217I wish I had a good one for furniture scratching. The couch under the slip cover fell victim to them years ago. Redirecting when they're kittens seems to have curtailed it a bit, but they still have their moments.

@AIMY For the plant eating, they've stayed away from trying to eat the orchids. For the others, we're big proponents of spraying them with water to train them away. I've also used the cayenne pepper trick - misting the plant with water and then sprinkling cayenne pepper, just the smell keeps them away.

@LAETITIAE the litter room is awesome. Let me see if I can find some photos.

What a great job on your color choices - you managed to make white walls feel like a choice and not a symptom of a renter's place. Love your taste in art as well.

Gorgeous kitty who looks just fine on those countertops! I've said it before - that's what cleaning product is for.

@b21 - I heard back from the builder on the pavers and install:
"The pavers are Westile Ballast Pavers, over felt, over 2 layers Dow
Plazamate 60, over TPO membrane."

I don't understand any of that, but maybe you do :)
take care!

Leah here...

@CVIC - The wall hangings are wooden lattice kits I got from Lattice Stix.(http://www.latticestix.com/) I added cafe lights to the back for ambient light at night. It was fun to put together.

@B21 - The builder laid down the pavers, I'm pretty sure there was a layering process so water drains properly to gutters. I'll ask him for the source.

@AUSTINISTICALIST - Seriously, best. dirt. ever. I look like such a better gardener after a friend turned me on to it.

Agree with @colleencatcat, love the kitty!
Cats will be cats - that's what cleaning product is for.

Kate - glad to hear you love your KitchenAid ice-cream attachment. I've been thinking of getting one and that's a great endorsement.

I was thinking the same thing about the bench artwork. It has a nice look to it, but I think I'd be constantly worried about bumping in to it if I were to sit there.

a few years ago we nearly built an LVL, even had a contract on the land. But, after doing a lot of research and as much preplanning as we could, there were just to many possible disasters for us to take the leap. I echo what others have said here - lending can be difficult for these kinds of builds and it's hard to find a contractor experienced with prefab. In the end we felt more comfortable purchasing a known property and paying a little bit more, than with risking the unknown of building.

I love that they show how being a creative family doesn't have to translate into being a messy family. Lots of joy in this one.

Love the floating bookcase. Makes books feel like a bigger part of the home than a typical bookshelf.

I've always loved street art - but hadn't thought of it for color palette inspiration. Love the last set of charcoal, white, pink and yellow - wouldn't have put those together, but now I want to.

Really nice job of embracing the building as you say, especially with the kitchen. I like the idea of a patterned wallpaper accent, but I think I might get a little dizzy while trying to watch the TV that's hanging over it.
