The IKEA Fantastik Napkin Holder does the same job for $1.99 and looks quite elegant and maclike. The mStand is, as you correctly noted, in a whole different category.

It truly is the one of the best bargains on the planet. Cheap, minimal, elegant and built like a tank. I bought the long on one first as a dining table and again for a desk. They sit about 4 feet apart in my studio apartment.

I replaced my $800 Humanscale Freedom chair with one of these shortly after Christmas when the back just broke and haven't looked back since.

No base, just a 75cm ball that I sit on for upwards of ten hours a day with no discomfort, fatigue or hunching.

I'm not saying Ergocentric is biased because he/she has a very obvious axe to grind but in my case there is absolutely no doubt that my posture and core musculature has improved. Maybe I'm a unique case or maybe the 6 months isn't enough time for the dreaded hunching effect to take place.

One thing I have noticed is that I am much more likely to get up and walk around every half hour or so and continuously make minor adjustments in position.

When I saw this I thought it was self-irrigating, but it's just a sophisticated drench & drain. There's a better way. Google self irrigated planters.

The whole room is awesome. I'm working on a wall hanging credenza/litter box/cat bed that looks amazingly like the one you have hanging on your wall but now I just feel bad that I didn't use plywood.

I clicked on Aster's profile and almost every comment she's ever made is negative and even her nice comment's usually have a little dig in them someplace.

There was a problem posting my vote earlier today. I clicked on the thumbs up and got a "voting is closed for this entry" message.

I love this setup, especially the loft.

I have two cats, 11 & 1 year old, who both use the ladder to a Tromso loft bed whenever they feel like it. I actually started putting their food bowl on top of the bookshelf next to it to ensure they get exercise and keep it out of reach of the dog.
Love your space, especially the loft and the beams.

PS I have a full blown vegetable garden in my windowsill and the way I protect the human stuff from the cats is to make sure there's always plenty of catnip and wheatgrass in a separate area for them to snack on.

It's surprising how well it works.

"Why would anyone put lighting under the base cabinets in the kitchen?"
Because they're clean? And the only way it's not useful is if you never use the kitchen.

You had me with the first pic even before I recognized the lofts. I'm not wild about the bathroom and the dining room kitchen needs more artwork or something, but the space in those first two shots is my favorite in this contest so far.

Patrick summed it up perfectly.

Don't change a thing.

Love the red dustpan, but leaving out the Loder series by IKEA was a giant mistake in my opinion, particularly since the broom/dustpan combo is less than $10.

I've been using them since they came out and they work great and are attractive and non-obtrusive enough that I normally just leave them in the hallway next to the coat tree. There's no reason to spend big bucks on utilitarian objects when IKEA and Muji are both manufacturing quality design for so much less.

280 sf! I'm comfortable in 370 with a loft bed, but I can't imagine losing 100. You made it look effortless using familiar pieces. The Klippan looks great and I wonder how people divided rooms before the Expedit.
I'm being conservative with the thumbs up but I gave this one before realizing how tiny it was. I wish I could give it two.

Love these. Stylish, but not in that gimmicky way that most designy computer speakers are. In fact, I'd rank them right up there with Orb Audio and classic Bang & Olufsen.

@secretagent Not sure why, but most computer speakers made after 2002 are USB. Probably has to do with increased placement options.
