@yuving, I'm sorry if I offended you. I think your studio and design is lovely, and you should be extremely proud of what you've accomplished with the space! It seems many readers agree with me on this point.

I was just pointing out a discrepancies I noticed, and the difference in tone between the official entry and your comments made me question the authenticity of your studio/you. On top of that, other people posted their furniture/art sources in their comments, and you didn't, so I became a bit doubtful.

Btw, I don't think you needed a friend to proofread your entry before you submitted. Your English is excellent, no one would have had any trouble understanding you, and it's always nice to hear/read people speak about their homes in their own voice, with no edits/input from others.

While I think your design sense is excellent, I do think that the fact that your studio is used as a weekend home IS unfair to the other contestants who entered their actual homes into the contest. But please don't think I am attacking your "design integrity" - I was just expressing my doubts.

Good luck with the open house!

Not like it really matters since this entry won't beat Daniel's Amazing Bones to go into the final round, but Tony's Custom should be disqualified. The contest rules are that the contestant lives in the space, and Tony clearly doesn't live here. He said the place was finished in March, and he only spends some weekends there, which means he's only spent SOME time there.

I am also not sure that this is really HIS. He doesn't give any specifics on where items are from, besides saying everything is "custom". Where is the painting from? Who is the artist? Don't tell me its a thrift store find with no artist named. The couch? Links to items? For someone who picked everything out, he sure doesn't know that much about anything.

Also, his entry has excellent grammar, but his responses don't. It's like two different people are interacting with us, but claiming to be Tony. This studio obviously exists, but does Tony?

TRISSI, I'm really not sure how many people voted before seeing other photos or going to Kim & Scott's blog, and neither are you. I, for one, always look at comments before voting. Regardless, because the link is out there, there is still a possibility that additional photos swayed people's votes, and that shouldn't be the case when the contest entries explicitly asks for only FIVE photos. If contest rules also asked for a link to a blog, if available, then I would have no problem with links to their blog. It is unfair to other contestants in the same category. It's something AT should address.

Btw, my sentiments, that linking to a page on your blog that shows multiple photos of your home, is unfair to other contestants, have been echoed by other readers in multiple entries. I am sure Kim & Scott deserve every vote, and they are nice people with amazing design sense, and its kind of them to share their sources etc etc, but I do want to point out that showing additional photos of their home, and placing that link in the comments section of their entry for anyone to freely access, is unfair to the other contestants. Unless the contest rules explicitly request blog links, I don't see how it's not.

This is a great apartment. I see why people are fawning all over it.

However, to quote rizkmichelle's comments from Rodelee's Pretty Little Dwelling entry, "I don't think it's fair to the other contestants that her home was already featured in a House Tour. We all can search AT and see all the other pictures... she has an unfair advantage, IHMO."

Added to the fact that 1) Kim has a recent blog post on yellowbrickhome asking her readers to vote for her; 2) posted a link to a source list above with TONS of additional photos of her home (even though contest entries allow only five), and 3) entered the contest with what looks like staged professional photos...this puts the other contestants in her category at a huge disadvantage, and I hope readers take all these factors into account when voting for their favorites!

The apartment IS beautiful, but its not really fair to judge the other entries against this home. AT should have stricter guidelines for posting links and additional photos.
