When I moved from UT to MI, I was surprised that no one around here wears shoes in their houses, and they expect visitors to remove shoes as well. It took some getting used to, but now it annoys me when people leave their shoes on. I also carry a small pair of slippers in my purse when I am going to peoples houses.
