Any idea where those armchairs are from? They're gorgeous.

Wait, I need a chair in my office? I never knew.

Don't feel bad. While I used to DJ, I haven't done so in a long time. I just did the same thing with my collection of 1000-or-so records: donated them to Goodwill. Finding a buyer was a royal pain, Amoeba Records wanted to give me $30 for the entire set (WTF?), and Goodwill means I can have a nice tax deduction this year. Plus, someone gets some really good music.

As far as taking up space, it wasn't just the vinyl... It was the turntables, the mixer, the headphones, Serato, tons of cables, record bags, laptop stand, everything. It was too much to lug around one more time; I'd done it 10 times already.

Do I feel bad about giving up some of my music? Yes. Could I have converted to FLAC/MP3? Sure, if I had about 100 hours to spend and patience doing so. In my view, just like books, donating records opens up physical and mental space for new ideas and new music.

Towel warmers are obviously not a necessity, but have you ever used a warm towel after a shower? It feels so luxurious and wonderful. I'd install one if I had the means.

The bass from those monitors doesn't feedback through the tonearm?

I've used this app since December and while I think the "sleep cycle" calculation is a bit of snake oil, the alarm is very pleasant and the sleep statistics give you a good idea of how you slept, even if they aren't perfectly accurate.

That's not espresso; it's a wet coffee juicer. Like others have pointed out, you still have to use energy to heat the water.

Hooray, my second CL post to make it to Apartment Therapy in 2 weeks! =)

The rug (which is not for sale) is the discontinued "Starburst" rug from CB2.

@LoriSF - Wow, that's one expensive dealer for the CH445 at $7699! You can get it many other places for $4500-5000.

It happens to be the most comfortable chair I've ever had the pleasure of sitting in.

I have no idea IKEA discontinued the Jerker desk series and replaced them with the seriously inferior Frederik desks. We love our Jerker desk, and it's strong enough that I could stand and jump on it. I wouldn't think of doing that with the new stuff!

I didn't realize the JAKOB chair from Ikea could look so good.

I like the Louis Latour Pinot, available in most wine shops. It's around $16 and is nicely balanced.

That is supposed to be Boeuf Bourguignon -- I guess the blog doesn't like fancy characters.

I'm a DJ so I needed a space not only for LPs but also for headphones, turntables and a mixer. I'm an Ikea fan, but I didn't roll with the Expedit because it simply wasn't sturdy enough or the right height.

Instead, I went with their excellently constructed Effektiv office line, putting two units together. They perfectly fit my LPs and all of my gear, and they're the perfect height for a home mixing console.

I love the first one. The second one nice too, but am I the only one that's tired of the phrase "faux bois"? Even as a French speaker, it sounds pretentious to me.
