So pretty. Thanks for the inspiration. Thankfully my hydrangea is still going strong so I'll cut some blooms from the backyard I think!

That's a great idea - wish I had thought of it! For our towels and nice stuff I use a Lands End Tote. But I like to keep our sand toys separate, so I use a small handheld laundry basket from Target. Because it is plastic, it is really sturdy and stands up on its own on the beach, in the sandbox or in the trunk of my car. It washes down easily. Sand easily shakes out the sides, but most of it gathers at the bottom so I don't have to worry about it all falling out in my car.

Best of all, I don't care about it in the slighest--perfect for messy kid stuff!

We invested in a Fagus truck for our son's second b-day (he is almost three now). They are made in Germany in a workshop for the disabled. We found it our local toy store but they are also here: http://thewoodenwagon.com/woodentoys/fagus-trucks.html. The quality is **excellent** and I love how it really requires little ones to use their imaginations. It's the kind of toy you would want to keep and pass down to the next generation.

He also adores his Schleich 4x4. It's made of plastic but is well made. Because many of the pieces naturally pop off, it doesn't break when dropped. After a year of really rough play it still looks so cute. Our guy spends hours taking the spare tire, doors, and top on and off and now making the driver do things. There is also a matching horse cart.

We love Plan too. Also I will just say that buying used cars & trucks is environmentally friendly. :) If your son is like ours, you can never have too many and there are so many out there already!

my 2 year old is still coming to terms with his own, but i could see an older boy thinking it was fun(ny) and interesting. i'm not one to look the other way when it comes to nature...but until we're out of diapers we don't need more time spent on this topic, thanks! :)

We also have this table 4 chairs, and while I really want to love it, I just don't. We stowed ours for the winter but it still weathered considerably after one summer and is turning white-ish. The chairs are not very comfortable and too narrow IMO. I totally agree it's an awesome deal and good for small spaces, but I wish we had spent a little more on something more comfortable that would stand the test of time. In the end we'll probably hang onto it and cover it w/a tablecloth when we're having a party & need an extra table.

I like it too -- but LOVE how you break down what works about the room (for novices like me). Please do this more often!! :o)

I love poufs as well -- we have two in our living room and use them for extra seating, foot rests, even my two year old loves sitting and playing on them. Unfortunately, it does get kicked around a lot, it's just too tempting! I like West Elm's take, but at $179 you could get an authentic, handmade leather pouf with a lot more character. I also don't think they'd age well.

Very cool - charming, unique & uplifting without being too studied! Love the chalkboard door. And I agree about maximizing playspace...I considered putting an activity table in the middle of my toddler's room but in the end left it open for rolling around, opening up a tent, you name it. It was one of the best decisions I made!

I've always liked them. We eat them just like we do edamame - boiled and then topped with really good sea salt.

I would never buy that -- it looks cheesy to me. What's wrong with just cuddling up on the couch or putting your lap top on your, um, lap?

Love it. I am debating whether to get a play kitchen for my 2 year old boy, but am on the fence because it seems like less of a sure thing than something with wheels. I had heard there are little mini floor stoves like the one shown that take up a lot less space (and cost), but still allow for the same kind of play. Does anyone know if that was custom built, or if not, who makes it? Thanks!
