Yeah, I agree with KTG (I think) that there's no such thing as a classic that is always in style. Tastes in historical pieces change with the times. Like in the 80's arts and crafts movement was very "classic". Today, while I'm not selling my little journey stand, but I searched "arts and crafts" and "mission" and cound not come up with a single example on your site featuring this style. Dudes, true collectors (except possibly for those who collect works on paper only) will likely have mismatched frames. Some frames have provenance that equal the work. Different frames are required for different works for conservation purposes. Frames not solely a "decorating" or groovy-feeling decision. Some weird mix of craftsman, country, and 1970's mcn. All simple stuff I guess. I like all styles and admire the extraordinry but want my own house to be simple. Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | What's the Mix in Your Home? |

Does that mean that chalk dust gets in your bed? Maybe that's a different strokes consideration as well. I think I will just glue some peanut shells to the wall and call it day. Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Eleven DIY Headboard Inspirations |

Hmmm. Am checking back here to see what everyone has to say about this. As a knitter and someone who remembers the '70's, I sometimes wonder whether my craft, in jeopardy of being the macrame of the future, isn't best limited to traditional knitwear (sweaters, blankets and the like). On the other hand, knitting inherently has all those little holes and light does shine through it beautifully. So it might be a great idea, depending on the material knitted with. And great call about the wall patterns! Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Flickr Finds: Knitted Lampshade |

I too am considering purchasing a couple of pieces of unfinished furniture. Frankly, I'm tired of garage-saling and fixing up pieces of furniture that aren't made particularly well made in the first place. And...and I know this is a sin....I'm growing weary of MCN as well as the shabby Anthropologie aesthetic. And it's not like I can afford Prouve. I'm just stuck with stuff my aunt sally might have sold ten years ago. I just want something simple and well made. If I could time travel, I might get some G or L&JG Stickley pieces. But since I'm stuck in 2008, the unfinished furniture option seems attractive to me...at least now...at 5:32 on Tuesday evening.
