Here's what I did in my city condo: I installed neutral curtains with (here's the key) a heavy white thermal lining to face the outside. During the day, keep them open to fall between the windows so you don't block your amazing view. Close them at night to block as much noise as possible. And if you mount the rods/cable near the ceiling, the long vertical columns of curtains when they're open will make your room look even taller. Soundproofing Ideas for Highway Noise? Good Questions |

I applaud the family's patriotism, but you're not supposed to use the American flag as/for decoration. From USFlag.org: The Wills' Anything But Ordinary Home House Tour |

My smoothie base is protein powder, my favorite is Designer Whey French vanilla. To a scoop of it I add1 frozen banana, a handful of frozen cherries, 1/2 cup of V8 Diet Berry Juice (or Gatorade), 1/4 cup crushed ice, 1 packet Emergen-C raspberry flavored powder (it has fizz), and a splash of lime juice. I own many vintage Vera scarves and blouses and table linens, which always garner compliments. I've also incorporated beloved Vera scarves into my loft decor--framed in plexiglass for wall art, or turned into pillow covers...the designs still feel modern and never fail to cheer. I have a couple of pieces of original art that are simply too heavy to hang safely...those are on a bookshelf and on an easel, and I love the look of both of them. Other overlooked places for art--on the fridge (it's not just for children's art), and on cabinet doors, especially on a TV cabinet/wardrobe. Also, in a window, especially if it's a window in a room where you need a little extra privacy. Also, don't forget art in your outdoor spaces! 10 Unconventional Ways to Hang Art |

I keep coming back to this entry--it's just so elegant and different. And I love the fact that the cabinets are one color on top, another on the bottom. Makes it look like furniture versus regular old kitchen cabinets. Really terrific!!!! Plus this room is so TINY! Good grief, you've worked miracles! All great tips. Sharing mine: I put a "color" catcher sheet in my washer, then add dirty clothes until it's full and run it (no hamper needed!). Put wet dish sponge/rag in the microwave for 1 min to disinfect; the "steam" helps to make the microwave easy to wipe down, too. My plants are a mix of real and artificial for less overall upkeep--no one even knows! When I sew, I create a sticky surface for loose threads, etc. by turning a piece of packing tape onto itself and sticking it on the front or side of the machine. And for hands-free mopping, I wear dust mop slippers when I'm brushing my teeth or I'm on the phone (it's good exercise, too!). 15 Crazy Ideas to Make Your Life Saner |
